🐥Our Rainbow Crispy Chick's celebrated our 5th Anniversary recently 🎉
🐥We had lots of fun, food & dance! Barbara Markham won the H&T prize & several thank you gifts were presented! Thank you to those who joined us & bought puddings. Here's to more friendships being built 🐥🐥🐥
🐥The ladies group was formed in May 2021 by myself Linda Lam who throughout Covid realised there were a lot of lonely ladies who may need friends and support whether through losing loved ones or losing their confidence and promised to use Rainbow88 with it being a known & respected place in the community, to hold meetings where ladies could congregate and show support for one another. We are not just a social group but are genuinely here for one another.
🐥It started with me posting to FB groups asking ladies to PM me, there is no joining fee, no need to eat or drink just turn up! I would then ring each lady individually & reassure them that they would be in a safe environment! Some daughters or grand daughters would contact me for them. After using many hours on the phone some would turn up but some wouldn't without even informing me but to me this was just because they weren't yet ready so I just sent them messages to ask them to contact me again when they were ready. Some Chicks who have joined are Rainbow88 customers or my friends. So there is a good mixture of ladies from all walks of life and we do not tolerate any judging, nastiness or bullying
🐥From what started off around 20 has now increased to probably around 70 who are active & join in the wide range of events we organise at local venues & eateries from coffee mornings, brunches, pub tribute lunches, carveries, coach trips, charity events, Mayors Ball, Mayors Parlour, barge trips. Some have even been on holiday together and day trips.
We most certainly have lots of birthdays to celebrate & recently we celebrated Maureens 90th!
🐥As the group became bigger we needed to set up a private FB & Whats App group. We have 2 admins who post a morning greeting without fail and we have hosts for events who organise andboik with the venues. There is no pressure to join an event we put up on FB we just ask that we see them or hear from them at least once in 4 months which if we don't we will then contact them to see if they still want to say as a member.
🐥As a group we don't just support local businesses but support various charities too and we now are quite famous now😍 Our Chicks are not slow on raffle donations either which has helped our fundraising tremendously 🙏
🐥Through Rainbow Crispy Chicks many friendships have been made for life! Some friendship groups have formed as not everything can be done in large groups. We are not just a social group but are genuinely here for one another like family. Many may see more of us than their family but we are also here to fill in any gaps e.g when you lose your partner you may also lose your friends or you don't want to intervene with your daughter's or sons family. Its just perfect!
🐥Some leave as they no longer need the group but still in contact as they appreciate the group however some don't & we never hear from them again but just knowing they are still friends with Chicks they met through the group shows it has served its purpose and a result for us!
🐥Chicks have been here for me as much as I have for them. They have & still are helping me through the worst experience of my life which was losing my mum. It is coming up to her 2nd anniversary. For that I am forever grateful 🙏
🐥So thank you to all the Chicks past & present who have shown love, support & guidance to one another and may we continue but an even bigger thanks to Gillie Shaw, Paula Gilbert & Helen Daniel for all your time & effort into keeping our Chicks active, happy & safe 🙏🙏🙏
