This one's a piece of liquid history. Distilled in October 1989 at Littlemill Distillery β€” a Lowland ghost distillery that fell silent in 1994 and was later lost to fire β€” this single hogshead (Cask No. 171) was left to mature for 31 years before bottling in May 2021. We invite you to join us at The Elysian Whisky Bar for a special evening exploring the world of Malts of Scotland, one of the most respected independent bottlers of Scotch whisky.

Founded in Germany in 2005 by whisky enthusiast Thomas Ewers, Malts of Scotland has built its reputation around the careful selection of exceptional casks from across Scotland. Rather than simply presenting whisky under a distillery's name, their philosophy is centred on discovering what makes an individual cask truly special β€” from maturation and cask influence to the character of the spirit itself.

For this exclusive tasting, Rafael Lan from Hi Liquor will guide us through a specially selected flight of six MoS expressions. Thomas Ewers, will also be joining us virtually during the tasting. This will be a unique opportunity to hear directly from the person behind the independent bottling and gain an insight into the philosophy, craft and cask selection that goes into each Malts of Scotland release.

Ohtani Whisky Sherry Oloroso Cask Mizunara Cask Finish 4yo Single Malt, 58%

Crafted by the Niigata Kameda Distillery in Japan, this 4-year-old single malt combines Oloroso sherry cask maturation with a rare Mizunara oak finish, balancing rich, dark-fruit sweetness from the sherry with the distinctive oriental spice and sandalwood notes of Japanese oak.

Niigata Kameda Distillery was founded in 2019 in the Niigata Prefecture by Japan's largest seal (hanko) maker-turned-distiller. The distillery uses custom-made pot stills from Forsyths. Distillation officially began in February 2021.

The team works directly with local Niigata farmers to source homegrown barley at above-market rates, blending traditional regional agriculture with modern distilling.
