CITY LEADERS & MIDTOWN ASSOCIATION HIDING THE SEVERITY & PATTERN (SWIPE FOR BOTH SLIDES)

Why don't we know there was a massive 'sweep' to remove folks from Cesar Chavez Plaza on the 8th? Goal? Remove 'eyesore' for Citizen Hotel guests. No plan of where they'll go, resources for those in need, how to mitigate retaliation about being pushed out of the plaza, no warning to business owners that those displaced will make their way down the J Street corridor.

The only way this will change - and keep Midtown from becoming urban blight and unsafe for residents and visitors is to push back, get loud and collectively demand answers. I've been told my 'sole' voice will continue. to be ignored. That results in a 'neighborhood' being ignored and put at continued risk.

DOWNTOWN SAC PARTNERSHIP (DSP) has HQ Security to patrol the downtown corridor. MIDTOWN ASSOCIATION is ignoring opportunity to bring security patrol to Midtown. Putting us ALL at risk.

There seems to be more focus on 'appearances' of safety than actual safety in Midtown. Hide the severity and the LACK of protection from City Leaders ensures this will continue. What are they waiting for? Escalate to a death? MA and City won't respond to 'small' voices - only when 'larger' voices, enmass get loud will they finally do something. Loud, requires them to speak up and address their lack of planning, strategy, solutions, and competence in handling a growing city.

What is Midtown doing...other than 'Clean and Safe' program that focuses on the 'appearance' of Midtown - call a number and they'll come 'sweep or clean windows'. Let's get past the façade, move towards real effectiveness and safety for all.

City was given funds from Newsom to fix this mess, they screwed it up - no accountability for those funds, & think it'll just go away. They rely on resident & business silence. I bet not one of them visited the Cities who created solutions that worked (SF, Chicago, Detroit). No budget to fly/drive for those chats/discovery? There's this new technology called Zoom, Cell Phones...clearly the City of Sac leaders haven't heard of this since their tactics are antiquated.

I'm a small voice, but my defiance against injustice and unfairness is strong and loud. 18 businesses (that they'll acknowledge) in less than 30 days NOT TO MENTION THE HATE CRIME ASSAULTS IN LAVENDER DISTRICT.

UPDATE: 2 ADDITIONAL BUSINESSES HIT as of SEPT. 10th (now 19 biz's)

Names of the businesses broken into in the last week + additional ones prior and no one's talking about...City only releasing the blocks 1100 Block, 2200 Block, etc. Media (bless them) had to walk the streets, call every business on these blocks to verify the names to obtain this list. Police say Midtown Association blocks them from releasing business names - Midtown Association?

So this happened on Wednesday. They’ve since caught the guy, but there are definitely suspicions across the board.

1. How did he hit 10+ businesses in 48 hours?
2. Why won’t the police or the city name the other businesses?
3. Why won’t the city acknowledge this is not a one off, and there have been multiple small business break-ins consistently not only in just the past few weeks but the past few years. With consistent promises to resolve it, and then nothing. I see more parking meter maids walking around than I do any resources given to security for Midtown businesses.

I have a bunch more questions that I’m going to post. Sacramento is supposed to be the capital of California, one of the largest economies in this country. And and city officials continue to act like they are living in a small town from 1985. It has to stop, and the amount of stories. I’ve heard this week from business owners and industry staff stating that this is not new, and continues to happen with silence from the city is unacceptable. I wanna know why they’re not giving the names of the businesses, and why they’re not sharing that, is there a concern about their seeing a trend and the types of businesses that are hit? Definitely more questions than answers. We’re not going away quietly.
