🎻 3–5 PM | DIMA IRISH MUSIC SESSION
There’s nothing quite like an afternoon of traditional Irish music! The Detroit Irish Music Association is bringing musicians together for a lively session, and everyone is invited! Bring an instrument and join in, or grab a seat, relax, and enjoy the tunes! Interested in playing on the radio? Arrive by 2:30 PM!

🎶 4 PM | AMBLE CONCERT PRE-PARTY!
Heading to St. Andrew’s Hall to see Amble? The Gaelic League is your pre-concert headquarters!

🎶 5–7 PM | Music Lessons
Ever wanted to learn an Irish instrument? Here’s your chance! Try your hand at tin whistle, bodhrán, or fiddle. All ages and skill levels are welcome, and no experience is necessary! Pay what you can; suggested contribution is $20.

🎸 8–11 PM | Mylo O’Maoláin LIVE!
We’re kicking off the weekend with a NEW face on the Lounge stage! Joining us all the way from County Kildare, Ireland, Mylo O’Maoláin is bringing his Irish folk music, lively singalongs, and infectious energy to the League for the very first time! Come out and show him some Detroit hospitality!

𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀: 𝗦𝗲á𝗻 𝗚𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻

With 1 week to go, we'd like to introduce the artists that will be playing at the Gaelic League Irish American Club of Detroit on October 29th.

Here's our very own director and founder, Seán Gavin

Seán is a master of the uilleann pipes, Irish flute, and tin whistle, and one of today’s leading performers and teachers of traditional Irish music. He was encouraged in music by his father, Mick, a fiddler from Co. Clare, and his brother Michael, and at age 12 he began studying the pipes with the late Al Purcell, a former pupil of the legendary piper Leo Rowsome.

After a decade in Chicago playing and studying with the city’s finest musicians, he toured the world with Bua, Téada, and Séamus Begley. He’s the first musician born outside Ireland to win the prestigious Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal, and his recordings include The Boys of 25, Music From the Lost Continent, and Home Away from Home.

Today he’s back in his native Detroit, where he plays, teaches, and shares the tradition with the next generation. It’s a true homecoming, and we can’t wait for you to hear it.
