August around Cholmondeley is full of ways to spend a day well 🌿🗺️

Deva Fest returns to the castle grounds from 6th–9th August… it sold out, but a limited number of tickets have just been released as a late drop, and as a customer of ours you can get 10% off with our code CCATFRIENDS.

If you’re after something to eat afterwards, we’re running our Great British Beef Week from 6th–14th August, with prime 28-day aged steaks cut to order 🥩

The little ones will love BeWILDerwood, just up the road near Whitchurch and open right through to 1st September.

Beyond the big names, there’s plenty worth seeking out locally too. Beeston Castle offers some of the best views in the county from its rocky crag, and the Sandstone Trail links it all together with Peckforton Castle for ridge-top views and quiet stretches most visitors never find.

Cheshire Farm Ice Cream is worth the drive on its own merits, with over 50 flavours made on site, and Bolesworth Estate in Tattenhall is well worth a visit just for the grounds and the walk around the lake.

And right on our doorstep, Cholmondeley Castle Gardens are blooming beautifully… stay the night with our Botanical Break and wake up ready to explore them 🌸🌿

Great British Beef Week comes to the Cholmondeley Arms! 🥩🌾

From this Thursday, the Cholmondeley Arms is celebrating Great British Beef Week with nine days of steak sourced straight from the fields around us.

28-day aged beef from Cheshire and Shropshire farms. A ribeye with real bite, a fillet that melts, a rump with real depth of flavour, and a sirloin with a full, rounded flavour... all cut to order and cooked over the grill, served with roasted tomato, onion rings and Massey's Farm chips, and finished with delicious sauces, from classic Bordelaise or béarnaise to Burt's blue cheese or king prawns and garlic butter.

Great British Beef Week is coming to the Cholmondeley Arms 🥩

From Thursday 6th to Friday 14th August (excluding Sunday), we’re cutting prime 28-day aged steaks from Cheshire and Shropshire farmed cattle… ribeye, sirloin, rump and fillet, priced by the ounce and served with roasted tomato, onion rings and Massey’s Farm chips.

Fancy a steak to share? Just let us know when you order… we’ll allow a little extra cooking time.

Finish it your way, with sauces from classic Bordelaise and béarnaise to Burt's Cheese, or go all in with king prawns and garlic butter.

Straight from the kitchen at the Cholmondeley Arms... this dish is worth the trip alone 🌿

Our Pan Roasted Pork Tenderloin - finished in garlic and rosemary, with buttered new potatoes, roasted cherry tomatoes, fennel and a caper dressing - is perfect pub comfort food with lashings of finesse.

For a delicious pairing, our pick to go alongside it is a glass of Mâcon-Charnay... an elegant, unoaked Chardonnay from Burgundy. Its citrus lift and mineral edge cut straight through the richness of the pork, while a soft baked apple note plays nicely against the sweetness of the roasted tomatoes, and its herbaceous streak sits right at home next to the rosemary and fennel on the plate.

Pull up a table, order the tenderloin, and let us pour the glass to go with it 🥂

There’s something rather special about sleeping on the doorstep of the Cholmondeley Castle 🏰

Our rooms sit across two beautifully restored buildings on the estate… the Old Headmaster’s House, six cosy double bedrooms named after old headmasters and much-loved fictional teachers, each reflecting a little of the building’s schoolhouse history; and Juniper Cottage, our newly renovated rooms, Gin and Tonic, just next door (pictured 📷)
