Hi, I see people are still visiting this site. I go past the pub twice a week and always wonder what might have happened with more considerate landlords. It's now almost 3 years since they entered and changed the locks when I was on holiday. I would estimate 50,000 to refurbish to a reasonable standard. Insufficient local trade and in need of a good idea and lots of money to make it successful. Find something easier is my advice

How sad to see the Sandstone boarded up. Perhaps it's to prevent anyone seeing the warping floor inside. Without a kitchen or furniture plus the massive refurbishment bill, are we ever going to see it back as a pub in these troubled times for destination bistros?

Hi. If anyone is considering becoming the tenant for the pub, i would be happy to share my experiences. Give me a shout

Hi I see Fleurets are marketing the Sandstone. If you are interested please remember the following points
The kitchen is empty and will require over £15000 to re-equip to modern standards.
There was a suggestion that the delapidation charge would be over £40000, in other words it's worn out
The business has not made a profit in the previous 8 years it traded
The landlord did little to help me and everything they could to evict me on a technicality.
There are too many similar but better established pubs in the area.
Good luck if you still want to have a go, you will need it and deep pockets.

Hi - I See Brian is still trying to re open the pub. i wish him well but would remind him that Bolesworth pulled the lease from me without any notice, using the fact that they had set up a payment system that ensured I would always be at risk of defaulting on payment. They then set their lawyers on me (refusing to talk to me directly) and threatened dilapidation charges which would have amounted to over £40,000. This from a landlord who claimed to have the local residents at heart. A rough estimate is that I lost £50,000 purely from their actions. Take care to read the small print of the 42 page lease agreement and look at the payment schedule, and don't believe them when they say they are interested in your business. Horses are very expense to keep and all tenants are contributing to their upkeep. Also you will be aware that the car park was recently used as a base for a hunt which "inadvertently" killed a fox. Great people to know , not.

Well how sad the said empty over another Christmas. Could it be the Bolesworth estate doesn't care about the locality? Or are they working towards justifying closing it as a pub. Beware if you are considering taking the lease. They believe there's £40,000 required to repair the delapidation. And no one has made a profit in 8 years.

Sadly fir all concerned tgedecision of Bolesworth to remove the lease without discussing options with me means that the residents of Brown Knowl and surrounding villages have not had a local bar and restaurant for well over 12 months. What a waste of money for all of us.

Well i see that Martin and Brian have decided to take the Sandstone on. They told me that they would be doing oit through crowd funding and were full of promises which soon evaporated. I hope none of you have contributed.

Good afternoon. Its over 12 months since Bolesworth pulled the plug. This is a company which claims to be interested in the community
