Oakland is and always has been a beer town; a place where hard-working people would gather together to enjoy locally brewed, fresh beer. As the local population grew, Oakland was affectionately referred to as the "Milwaukee of the West" for its numerous neighborhood-based breweries. Founded in 2009 as Linden Street Brewery, we became the first community-based production brewery in Oakland since Go

lden West Brewery closed in the 1950s. In 2017, following the sale of our building on Linden Street to a new developer, we moved our operations to the waterfront Jack London District and rebranded as Oakland United Beerworks. With the support of a team of dedicated Oakland craft beer enthusiasts, Oakland United is proud to continue the great beer brewing tradition in Oakland.

What a day.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to celebrate the release of our Lucky Dog Hazy IPA with the one and only Rickey and his amazing human, Allyson!

We spent the afternoon enjoying fresh pints of Rickey's special Hazy IPA, feasting on incredible food from Lotus Delight , meeting fellow dog lovers, and most importantly, raising money for an organization that helps make stories like Rickey's possible: Berkeley Humane.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised $650 for Berkeley Humane, and we're incredibly proud that Oakland United Beerworks was recognized as the top fundraising brewery partner among all participants in the Pints for Paws campaign the following weekend!
Special thanks to Vickie from Berkeley Humane, who showed up with her trademark enthusiasm, amazing raffle prizes, and endless dedication to the animals and people she serves. Her support helped make the day even more special.

Rickey's journey, from surviving an illegal pig snare in Hawaii to becoming a beloved three-legged ambassador for rescue animals everywhere, is exactly why we love doing events like this. Seeing so many people come together to celebrate him, support Berkeley Humane, and raise a glass for a great cause was truly heartwarming.

Here's to Rickey. Here's to all the Lucky Dogs still waiting for their furever homes. And here's to this incredible community for showing up and making a difference.

This Week at Oakland United Beerworks 🍻

There’s a lot happening in the taproom this week! Catch every Oakland Ballers game with us, join a pasta-making class, eat some amazing Asian-fusion cuisine from our friends at Lotus Delight, test your knowledge at Jeopardy Trivia, and help us support the incredible Ella Baker Center for Human Rights during Friday’s fundraiser.

And don't forget — we've got TWO chances to cheer on the Valkyries this week! Catch the games with us on Tuesday and Friday at 7PM and enjoy 10% off your tab during the game.

Swing through the taproom, grab a pint, cheer on the Valkyries, and help us bring the game-day energy to Jack London Square.

A quick note to our Jeopardy players: we're sorry to everyone who came out last week and experienced issues with the game. We're actively working with the host company to address some recurring challenges and get things back on track. We've teamed up with our friends at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights again this year to host a very important fundraiser!

A portion of the proceeds from all drink sales in the taproom will go to the Ella Baker Center, an Oakland-based organization dedicated to advancing racial and economic justice, ending mass incarceration, and building opportunities for communities to thrive.

Starting at 4 PM, representatives from EBC will be in the taproom to share more about their work, answer questions, and connect with community members who want to learn how they can get involved.

June is here, and we're kicking it off with a week full of community, craft beer, local sports, great food, and a special opportunity to give back.

This Saturday, we're proud to host another Pints with Purpose Day benefiting the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center, helping support an organization that provides vital resources, advocacy, and community space right here in Oakland. Join us for a pint (or two!) and help us raise a glass to inclusion, visibility, and love. $1 from every drink sold will go directly to them to help fund the amazing work they do.

🐾 RICKEY IS BACK! 🐾

Our Lucky Dog Hazy IPA (ft. Rickey) is officially available TODAY! It’s fresh on draft in the taproom, in 4-packs to go, and available for home delivery + CA shipping through our website. Link in bio!

This one-of-a-kind “tripawd” has three legs, a wiggly butt, and an endless zest for life. After being rescued from an illegal pig snare on the Big Island of Hawaii, Rickey lost his front right leg, but never his spark. He made his way to Berkeley Humane and quickly found his forever home.

Now a beloved taproom regular, Rickey has won us all over with his playful energy, squirrel-chasing skills, and his sleepy little trademark: his tongue slipping through the gap in his teeth as he quietly dozes off.

This is Rickey’s second time gracing the Lucky Dog label (lucky dog, indeed!). This year’s iteration was brewed with Mosaic, Talus, and Chinook hops, bringing aromas of Concord grape, red currant, melon, coconut, papaya, and orange.

Here’s to Rickey — resilient, goofy, and totally unstoppable.

Fresh pasta + fresh beer? Say less.

Cassie’s Pasta-bilities is back at Oakland United Beerworks for a hands-on fresh pasta making lesson featuring garganelli pasta!

Join chef/owner Cassie as she walks you through the art of fresh pasta making, complete with recipes, equipment, ingredients, and plenty of guidance along the way. You’ll learn how to make garganelli from scratch, enjoy a sauce demo, and finish with a fresh pasta bite from Cassie’s Pasta-bilities.

And of course… there will be beer.

We’ll be there pouring our Lucky Dog Hazy IPA (of course) and helping Berkeley Humane raise funds to continue the amazing work they do for the community!

Attendees receive a commemorative glass to enjoy unlimited tastings of local craft beers, amazing ciders, artisan wines, hand crafted vodka, and more. Vibe to live music, enjoy tasty food bites (for purchase), and pet hundreds of crowd-friendly dogs!
