🍂 There's something cool in the air! 🍂

We're getting into our sweaters and eyeing our scarves all of a sudden in the Mine, it might pick up a bit next week but pretty soon I expect we'll be in the frigid fifties (gasp!). In the meantime, while it's not too bad we're going to do some fun red w**e tasting and enjoy some crisp cool sunshine with some fun red w**es!

If you missed last week, you missed our rep Stephen pouring some really cool Italian w**es, but fear not, for I have a surprise for you tomorrow: MORE Italian w**es! This time we're doing obscure grapes from Northern Italy, and I'll be impressed if anybody has heard of even half of them - so come in a flaunt it if you've got it, we'll all be learning a little. Sun Sun Sun and a little Sun on top: that's the order I put in for this weekend when Stephen comes and pours some fantastic Italian w**es, and delivery is right on schedule. So come on in and enjoy our shade or our shine, we have spots to hang out inside and outside, perfect for what may finally be our last hot weekend of the year (no promises though)

☀️ 9/26 Saturday Tasting: Grenache 🍂

It happened - we equinoxed. Again. You'd think we'd learn and just stay summer all the time, but alas, I've seen brown leaves and there's been a full week of not-so-warm weather, it's a total disaster for me personally, I had to leave town in my anguish (I saw my parents and grandma and looked at a volcano or three), chasing the sun North for longer days and shorter nights. Don't even talk to me when the time changes.

Luckily we're sort of in our second summer phase of early fall, so it's bright and sunny this weekend and we'll cling to it as best we can - in this case through one of the w**e worlds favorite lighter-bodied grapes, Grenache! We have a full lineup of cool w**es made of the grape (Paul Autard is cheating with 30% other Rhone varietals - we'll forgive it for now) to show off how it gets made in different regions, so if you're interested or if you just want to try something fun in the sun, come on by after 2 and swish, swirl, swallow your possibly last drops of beautiful sun for the year. Hopefully it won't be the last Grenache you have though, that stuff is good with turkey 🦃

🍂 9/19 Tasting: Danch & Granger W**e Tasting 🍂

We've been telling people in the shop for a while now that we have special guest Eric Danch of Danch & Granger coming back again, but just in case we missed you: it's here! Eric is a fantastic taster, traveller, and talker of w**es from some of the parts of Europe we see the least often in the w**e world, and you do NOT want to miss this! Just as his w**es are some of the most interesting in our shop and many others, he is one of the most interesting and charming people in the business, and few can hold a candle to him in knowledge of the w**eries and locations he imports from. So come in and elbow your way to the front of our line, you'll want to catch a story or two while you can, if you can get even a little of his adventurous and curious spirit to rub off, it will be worth it.

🍂 9/12 Saturday Tasting: Pinot Noir 🍂 

Summer isn't officially over (I know my equinox timings, don't mess with me) but we just got a little cooler in the shop and I'm happily wearing a sweater even though I probably don't need to. After last weeks rosé tasting (yum 😋) we figured we should swap to some more autumnal affair - it will be a gentle landing, as we'll be showing some lighter reds for the next few weeks. 

 Tomorrow it will kick off with some Pinot Noir, equally good for chilly crisp days and more second-summery afternoons, plus one of the most popular grapes around! Its in season, with the grapes ripening on the vine many places, including Oregon where shop owner David took that second photo - lucky for them, some growers closer to home have been hitting early harvest for some of their fruit, which is a chaotic affair of finding as much help as possible with no notice. 

Tomorrow I'll be gone to visit my Grandma up where she lives in Oregon, so my Cousin Lexi will be running the front of the shop while Chuck pours. Go easy on them :3

🌹 9/5 Holiday Weekend Rosé tasting 🌹 

We're rounding out our Summer with the last holiday weekend of the season, and with that comes the last rosé tasting of the year! Be warned - these w**es are delightful and cheery, and they WILL make you long for neverending sunny days. Maybe if you drink enough of them that will happen, who's to say?

 We have a fun lineup of various styles and grapes, including a little known style called Piquette, made as a light and low alcohol option with added grape bits (stems and pips for some herbaceousness alongside the bright fruit), made by our friend and neighbor Megan Hughes, who lives just around the corner! Come try it, it's cool and perfect for your last few pool days, or just a sunny afternoon on the porch. So come in, bring your sunnies or a parasol (or not) and enjoy :)
