✨ Saturday 6/6 - Distributor tasting with Stephen ✨

🍷 Get your sniffers ready everybody! If you haven't noticed, we've been lacking on our special guest appearances lately, but this weekend we'll be kicking them off again, starting with our friend Stephen, our representative from distributor Chambers & Chambers, he's a total expert and an absolute charmer - we love him and his enthusiasm for great wines from all over the world, and we're sure that you will too, so come on in anytime from 2 - 4:30pm for a taste of some of the great bottles we carry from Chambers & Chambers! And stay tuned, we'll have more special tastings for you upcoming (7/18 save the date 😉)

🍷 Donna Paolina 2024 Greco di Tufo
🍷 Marchesi di Gresy 2024 Barbera d'Asti

And if you swipe above, you may notice that we have a wine club! Who knew? Not enough people apparently, as we've barely advertised it over our almost 20 years being open 🫣
How does it work? Well, we get you cool wines every month, and you come pick them up any time! If you love variety and discovery, ask us and we can show you this months wines, and, heck, we can even sign you up for it if you'd like! What a world, right?

Psst, I'm still here, and so are you apparently - if you come early (🐦) and ask nicely, Stephen may even have an extra bottle of something something to pour you. I've been told it's an Italian bubbly wine. Okay, okay, I confess, nobody told me, I actually chose it. It was me, it's been me the whole time. I'm actually the only employee here full time, so who else would? Okay that's all, byeeeeee

5/30 Tasting - The Unusual Suspects

🍷 Now and then we like to bring out an entire lineup of less common wines and grapes for a Tasting. They're always bottles that we really enjoy having but with less commercial appeal due to people not knowing what they are.
There are many on the floor, but sometimes they don't come to even our minds when we're thinking of recommendarions. Shame on Us!
We're trying to rectify that tomorrow by trotting out the following all domestic wines made from less planted grapes here in the States.

The Wines:
🍷 Annie Amie Willamette Muller Thurgau
🍷 Groundwork Paso Robles Counoise Carbonique
🍷 Stolpman Santa Barbara GDG Gamay Noir
🍷 Odonata San Benito Malbec
🐦 Conduit El Dorado Skin Contact Viognier

🕜 Saturday 5/30 from 2:00-4:30pm for just $2 💵
📍The Wine Mine, 5427 Telegraph Ave in Oakland, CA
🐦 Early birds get a small pour of one extra wine with only 1 bottle opened at the start of the tasting - get it while it lasts!

This lovely morning the sunshine came through my windows, peered into my eyes, and graced me with its gentle touch. Then, it unnervingly whispered into my ear, "you forgot to post Instagram"

I batted it away and made a cup of coffee, the way you do, so I forgot after that too. Now it's afternoon and I remembered again, groaning and cursing all the while. But we're doing our $2 tasting today and it's all rosé for memorial day weekend, with a nice refreshing bonus bottle of piquette for the early birds. Don't know what piquette is? Well you'll have to come in and see for yourself ;)

5/16 Tasting - Our Northern Neighbors

🍷 We had a blast doing our California series, but we've been holding back! There's more to this here coast! These days we have quite a selection of wines from Oregon, between a nice spread of Willamette Pinot Noir and others from all over the state, and we can't wait to show some of them on Saturday.
Near and dear to our hearts are wines from Southern Oregon's Rogue and Applegate Valleys, very close to where David, the proprietor of this here mine, has fled to! One day I'll send the Marshals after him, but for now he's out of my jurisdiction. Lucky guy. But we wrangled a few wines from that area for this tasting, one is an early bird special so get here nice and early if you want to guarantee you get to try Derek DeFalco's excellent Chardonnay!

The Wines:
🍷 Voix de la Vigne Pinot Gris (Willamette Valley)
🍷 Clos Nowhere Apis Pinot Noir (Rogue Valley)
🍷 Ponzi Tavola Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)
🍷 Maison Noir Horseshoes and Hand Grenades Red Blend (Southern OR and Red Mountain, WA)
🐦 Clos Nowhere Wolf in Sheep's Clothing Chardonnay (Applegate Valley)

5/9 Tasting - The Big Shots - California Road Trip pt. 3!

🍷 You may have noticed a near total absence of Napa and Sonoma wines in our California tastings the last few weeks, and that's for good reason. No, we aren't Napa and Sonoma haters here, but we do think they deserve a special spot as our state's (and country's) premier wine growing region, and so we wanted to dedicate a whole tasting to it!
This Saturday we'll have a selection of delicious wines from the two greater regions, featuring some of the star varietals that you typically see in the region, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc (Sauvy B to some). So come in and join us for some especially delicious yet affordable bottles from our neighbors to the North. Be warned, you may find something you like a LOT.

The Wines:
🍷 Loren's Crossing 2024 Sauvignon Blanc
🍷 Lang & Reed 2023 Cabernet Franc
🍷 Loren's Crossing 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon
🍷 Eco Torreno 2020 Cuvee Tierra
🐦 Five Russians Pinot Noir for the early birds!

5/2 Tasting - Up the Coast - California Road Trip pt. 2!

🍷 Moving on up the coast from last week, we have to give NorCal some love - and while Napa and Sonoma may have a plethora of delicious wines, there's plenty more to our little state, and plenty of Cab and Pinot everywhere, plus mor than a few other grapes that we like to grow 😉
This weekend we'll explore Monterey, Marin, Lake County, and Mendocino, all great winemaking regions with their own notable climates and environments, united, of course, by the warm California sun (my 90s childhood memories just kicked in, hopefully that phrase isn't a registered trademark, please don't sue me boardwalk)
You may notice a lack of Napa and Sonoma wines in what we're calling "NorCal" this week. That is totally NOT because I have plans for those places in the near future, certainly not next week. I wouldn't do that to you. Napa and Sonoma tasting next week? Pshhh, no, not a chance. No way. Not me. Not us, I mean. We wouldn't do that. Not next week. Nope. 🥸

The Wines:
🍷 Cru 2022 Unoaked Chardonnay (Arroyo Seco, Monterey County)
🍷 Loup Solitaire 2024 Pinot Noir (Petaluma Gap, Marin County)
🍷 Eruption 2021 Red Blend (High Valley, Lake County)
🍷 Alondra 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendocino County)

4/25 Tasting - Back to CA - West Coast Roadtrip pt. 1!

🍷Alright folks, we've been all over the world with these wine tastings, old world, new world, I've been re-reading ringworld, but don't forget - we make wine here too! Whaaaaat?!? Wine from California? Preposterous! But no, it's true, we do, you may have even had some once or twice 😉
We'll be touring around California (and perhaps just a bit beyond?) for our next few tastings to show off our domestic selection. Our home state is actually one of the biggest wine growers worldwide, ranking behind Spain, France, and Italy in production (those are whole entire countries! If you don't pay attention to land area we are but 1/50th of a country!), and like those places we have many specialties - so we'll show a nice variety these coming weeks, but you'll see a few blends, Cabs, and Pinots, perhaps even a Chardonnay or two.
This weekend we're focusing on the Central Coast, with Santa Barbara (a bit south but let's just say central), San Luis Obispo (just south of Paso Robles), and Monterey as our center - so buckle up, put your shades on, and let's hit the road 🕶️

The Wines:
🍷 Birichino 2023 Monterey Malvasia Bianca
🍷 Tatomer 2023 SLO Coast Pinot Noir
🍷 Mallea 2022 Santa Barbara GSM Blend
🍷 Grounded by Josh Phelps 2024 CA Cabernet Sauvignon
