This is Kent Overshown in a scene from White Darkness, a collage of music, dance, theater and digital imagery, designed and performed by some of the Bay Area’s most stellar artists. You can see the whole film at: https://youtu.be/il1jmf53rys. The story explores the tumultuous sights and sounds of the Bay Area circa 1978 through the eyes of Renata (portrayed by Marcie Henderson)—a troubled young woman seeking answers to the emotional and spiritual conflicts that have plagued her since childhood. From the Vodoun traditions of her grandmother to the Charismatic Cultism of Jim Jones’ People’s Temple, Renata (and her reluctant companion, Rupert) try to find ways to ease her torment. These themes are mirrored by Dan White’s rise to power, his repressed and troubled inner life and eventual assassination of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk.
