The Golden Keg Ride from the Capitol to Oktoberfest was a great way to kick off the weekend and a tradition we’re excited to continue! A lot of fun along the way and a big thank you to Mayor Connie Boesen for tapping the Golden Keg to officially get Oktoberfest at the Des Moines Biergarten underway.

We’re only a couple days away from Oktoberest at the Des Moines Biergarten!

Join us September 18-20 for a free, family-friendly weekend celebrating German traditions with live music, cold bier, delicious food and plenty of activities for all ages.

Festivities kick off Friday with our Golden Keg Bike Ride. Join us at the Iowa Capitol as we bike through Des Moines to the Biergarten and finish with our celebratory Golden Keg tapping by mayor Connie Boesen.

Immediately following our keg tapping we will have; stein holding contests, sack races, pretzel toss, live music and so much more!

Admission is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
