Progressive Voices Concert Series SINGER-SONGWRITERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
WHO ENGAGE THE MIND, TOUCH THE HEART, & UPLIFT THE SPIRIT They can also tap your ability to laugh a little!

The Progressive Voices Concert Series has been hosted by First Unitarian Church of Des Moines since 2010 and is open to the general public. Our goal is to bring nationally and internationally-touring singer-songwriters to Central Iowa who can connect with a wide audience by presenting music that promotes compassion for and celebration of the universal human condition in all its forms and variations. We present artists whose music has the power to engage your mind, touch your heart, and uplift your spirit.

Mean Mary shared some incredible fiddling at her concert here last Saturday. She can really make that $100 pawn shop fiddle sing!

Time for a Saturday smile. Here’s a fun song and video by upcoming Progressive Voices Concerts artist (10/3/26), Mean Mary. She really shows off her unique voice and humor as well as her dazzling banjo and fiddle playing ( and she plays a mean guitar, too, by the way!)
