Texan blues-rocker Ally Venable Ally Venable Band brings her band to York for the first time on Wednesday - tickets available via our website

On Thursday we've got our second Cresidents night as our bar team go up against the wonderful bar staff of The Golden Ball The Golden Ball in the first ever Pub Soundclash - a new DJ night focused on bringing people from two great York establishments for a night of fun tunes and flowing drinks. All are invited down to witness the first of two clashes against The Golden Ball DJs – this first night being held on The Cresidents’ home turf. Keep an eye out for the announcement of the return leg which will be hosted at The Golden Ball…

Melting Pot return on Friday with their 'Celebrating 10 Years of Celebrating Indie, Britpop & the 1990s!' Sold Out night. DJs in the bar to finish

After a massive night last month Irie Vibes Irie Vibes Sound System are bringing the bass again on Saturday as they welcome the Roots Traditional Roundbeat sound system from Huddersfield. Tickets only a fiver, available on our website now

To round out the week Katie Gregson-Macleod Katie Gregson-MacLeod showcases her deeply personal lyricism and folk-influenced sound. We've had some lovely Sunday gigs recently and this is set to be another one of them

What a fantastic week is coming up to the GB! Come and join us to recover from the back-to-school rush and make the most of these ale-inviting temperatures.
We have:

- Monday (7 Sept): Our Open Mic remains popular as a showcase of some of the best talents in York. It starts at 8 pm, but get here early to get on Tom’s list.

- Tuesday (8 Sept): Feeling smart? Come and test it in our fun and wide-ranging pub quiz. It includes a kazoo round and Ben’s sense of humour. 8.30 pm start.

- Thursday (10 Sept): Join us at the Crescent for the first edition of Pub Soundclash! Our team will be on the decks alongside the Crescent crew, bringing a vibrant mix of sounds and styles. Expect a variety of musical tastes, but most importantly, a night for your favourite team to truly shine. From 7 pm.

- Friday (11 Sept): Our Latin Night have been with us for a total of 5 years!!!! And to celebrate, the amazing York Latinos are giving us a live show not to be forgotten. Music from 8 pm. ¡Que comience la fiesta!

- Saturday (12 Sept): Groovetone and their fantastic party set are taking over our main bar to raise funds for Venezuelan charity Chamos! Dance, drink, and support children in need! From 8 pm.

- Sunday (13 Sept): Baby Band is back in our lovely Garden Room. This is just one of our favourite events to host! Places are sold out, but you can still join the waiting list in case anyone misses it. It is free, but booking is essential. From 2.30 pm.

- Sunday (13 Sept): Finally, the week will close with our amazing and traditional folk session in the Garden Room from 8 pm.

Tonight is Vinyl Night from 8 pm in our main bar...
And you know what is great about Vinyl Night: the chance to meet new people, listen to good music, expand your taste, etc.
But they're also great at putting their heads together to do nice things!
They organised the fantastic Jukebox Party this weekend and a Raffle, to raise a total of £581, with the pub contributing £280, making a total of £781 for Yorkshire Wildlife Trust

All this for their efforts to rescue Askham Bog!

Thank you to everyone who donated prizes for our raffle, including Evolve Hairdressing, Millie’s York, Pextons Hardware, The Bishy Weigh, and regulars Mandy Hodge, Gill Rushworth. Kate Fuller, and Denise Mackenzie.

Thank you as well to Alison Reboul for making sure the raffle tickets were selling well. And the DJ for making sure the music never stopped.

And thank you to all who put their records in the mix for the requests!

Two amazing gigs are coming to the GB next week, both with groove for dancing.

On Friday (11 Sept), we are happy to welcome back York Latinos and their Salsa to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of our Latin Night! Close enough to Central America, Mexico and Chile celebrations! So lots of reasons to dance for.
Free entry, but we are still collecting items for Venezuela!

On Saturday (12 Sept), Groovetone is back with their dancing party to keep the party going! They are helping us raise funds for the very important Venezuelan charity Chamos, which protects children amid the tragedy in Venezuela!
