Update on The Swan

Hi all, just a quick update as we’ve had a few people asking about The Swan.

We are still working through matters with the insurance companies following the fire, which is unfortunately taking longer than we would like. It’s been a complex process, but things are moving in the right direction.

Please be assured that The Swan will reopen — we’re committed to bringing it back and getting the doors open again as soon as we possibly can.

We really appreciate everyone’s patience and support, it genuinely means a lot to us. We’ll share a more positive and detailed update as soon as we’re able.

Work has officially restarted at the pub today!

We’re now into Stage 1 of 3, which includes rebuilding the roof, brickwork, and chimney that were damaged in the fire. This phase is expected to take around 3–4 weeks.

Once complete, we’ll begin the longer process of drying out the building after months of exposure to the elements.

Unfortunately, there’s still no movement on the insurance claim, but getting this first stage underway is a big step forward. We’re staying hopeful that progress on the claim will follow soon, so we can move on to Stages 2 and 3—and finally reopen the doors!

Happy New Year from The Worlingworth Swan!

We’d like to wish everyone a very happy New Year and thank you for your continued patience and support. Progress is still delayed due to ongoing discussions with the insurance companies and listed planning authorities.

We remain hopeful that The Worlingworth Swan will reopen in the first half of 2025.

I saw today the sad news that the Framlingham shoe shop is closing its doors for good after challenges with insurance companies following Storm Babet, and I wanted to share an update on our situation at the Worlingworth Swan. The ongoing indecision from our own insurance companies has caused many sleepless nights as we continue striving to get the pub and shop back up and running. We’re hopeful that builders will return later this month to complete the roof repairs, but unfortunately, further delays and poor communication from our insurance company mean we can’t provide any more details at this time. We do intend to reopen the pub and shop, but we can’t offer a timeline for when that will happen. We hope it will be this year, but we honestly don’t know. Our thoughts are with everyone facing similar challenges with their insurance companies after last year’s storms. Thank you for your continued support, and we hope to have more positive news soon.

Delays with insurance company continue to delay the roof being re felted and tiled! We now have power almost back on site! 1 step closer! Thank you for everybodys patients with the road closer.

Whilst waiting for the insurance company to confirm the additional works after the shop roof was more damaged that expected, a little bit of pointing between the showers!
