Maybe we were a little hasty in heralding the return of summer but it is definitely warmer and the wind has dropped a bit. So, all in all, a perfect day for a walk to the pub and a slap up roast lunch. As it is warmer we are offering this week’s meats - beef and chicken - with a selection of pub classics as well as with the traditional roast potatoes etc. Lunch from 12 till 3, then drinks till 6.30.

It’s the weekend, and there is no rain forecast. There is even a possibility the sun may shine this evening which has got to mean Sundowners?!?
We’ve got a banging menu this weekend with some delicious fish - the cod for our fish and chips is outstanding at the moment The Fish Box, - and the curry this weekend is a Pork Vindaloo. Not screamingly hot (unless you want it to be 😉) but full of flavour and we’re experimenting with making our own Potato Farls (a sort of Naan bread) so wish us luck.

Guest Ale, cocktails, rosé wine, cold beer - bring on summer.

What a difference a week makes - 32 degrees C to 14! Shall we light the wood burner?!?! Still, the plants are happy and there’s a lot of summer still to come 🤞. Wherry is on happy hour tonight, and we have a lovely specials board with a warming curry, your favourite burger, and delicious sea bass.

They are allegedly going to reduce VAT to 5% on children’s meals just for the summer which is pretty unworkable in the average small pub; this is a far better

Well, that was some Bank Holiday weekend… and it’s still going! We were going to BBQ today but we think we’re BBQ’d out so are just serving some lovely light lunch dishes from 12.00 p.m. till 3.00 p.m. Then we carry on with drinks until 7.00 p.m.

Closed tomorrow- Tuesday - but back on Wednesday as usual.

A big thank you to all who came out for our BBQ and some fabulous live music from Graham. It was a brilliant evening with a great atmosphere and well done Jude for a record number of covers!

It is the calm after the storm today and we are serving some wonderful slow roast mutton or herby chicken as our roasts, which you can have either traditionally or, for the first time this year, as a “Mediterranean Roast” with hummus, tzatziki, Greek salad, pitta. You can even have roasties too!

We close at 3 p.m, today but will be open tomorrow from twelve.

Don’t forget it’s Live Music and Great Food at The Hart tonight. Posh BBQ with lamb chops, steaks and prawn or halloumi kebabs as well as burgers and sausages. Plus an extensive salad bar. Get your dancing shoes on and come on down.

A glass of cold rosé or a pint of Wherry, our guest ale, watching the sun go down has to be the perfect start to a long bank holiday weekend. And you’ll need sun cream not a coat for once. It’s all casual tonight at The Hart with food to get stuck into - Pizza, Chicken Piri Piri 🥵, Lamb Kofte as well as some summery salads and lighter fish dishes. Don’t peak too early though - theres a lot of weekend to get through. 😎

Another week in May that ends with a long weekend but this time the weather forecast is good! Which is brilliant as it means on Saturday 23rd we can have our first BBQ of the year before the fabulous Graham Welham plays his mix of dancing, singalong and classic tunes. BBQ kicks off at 6 p.m. - salad bar and some funky bits alongside the classic hot dog and burgers - and Graham starts around 7.30 p.m.

Sunday lunch is also a “first of the year” as we start our traditional Mediterranean roast alongside the classic one. Ever popular over the years, the featured meat of the week can be served either with the yorkshires, veg etc (we all know those who want nothing else!) or with a selection of salads, hummus, tabuleh etc and you still get roast potatoes! This week we have 12 hr slow roast mutton or lemon and herb chicken. We are closing at 4 p.m. on Sunday to give our staff a chance to relax.

Because on Spring Bank Holiday Monday (25) we are reprising our BBQ from 1 till 4, then open for our traditional “post mortem of the weekend, gearing up for the week ahead” session until 7 p.m.

It’s going to be a scorcher 🌞
