Cleaner | The Windmill

Position: Pub Cleaner
Location: The Windmill
Hours: 8:00am–10:00am
Days: As agreed / scheduled
Age: 18+ only

About the Role

We are looking for a trustworthy, reliable and hardworking cleaner to help maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout The Windmill.

This is a busy commercial pub, so the role requires someone who is comfortable working independently, has experience cleaning commercial premises, and takes pride in their work.

Please note that the duties listed below can realistically be completed within two hours at a standard working pace. The expectation is that the available time is used efficiently, with all priority cleaning completed to a good standard.

Main Duties

* Clean and maintain all areas of the pub to a high standard.
* Thoroughly clean the customer toilets, including sinks, toilets, mirrors and floors.
* Mop floors throughout the required areas.
* Polish and clean tables.
* Clean the bar area.
* Polish the bar rails.
* Litter pick the garden and outdoor areas.
* Empty bins where required.
* Clean any obvious spills or areas requiring immediate attention.
* Put out beer mats and ensure the pub is prepared and presentable for opening.
* Report any maintenance issues, damage, spillages or other concerns to management.
* Ensure cleaning products and equipment are used safely and appropriately.

Beer Deliveries – Tuesday & Friday

On Tuesdays and Fridays, part of the working time will be required to accept the beer delivery.

This may involve:

* Being present and ready when the delivery arrives.
* Directing the delivery driver to the appropriate area.
* Checking the delivery where required.

The time spent dealing with the delivery will form part of the scheduled working time and takes 10 minutes

The Person We’re Looking For

The successful applicant will be:

* 18 years or over.
* Trustworthy and dependable.
* Reliable and punctual.
* Able to work independently without constant supervision.
* Experienced in cleaning commercial premises, preferably pubs, restaurants, hotels or similar environments.
* Hardworking and able to work at a consistent pace.
* Someone who takes pride in cleanliness and presentation.
* Comfortable working around a busy pub environment.
* Flexible and able to deal with occasional additional tasks when required.

Important

This is a role where attention to detail and efficiency are essential. The pub needs to be clean, presentable and ready for service when the cleaning shift is finished.

The successful candidate must understand that two hours is a limited amount of time, and the role requires someone who can work efficiently and prioritise tasks without compromising standards.

We will be open for DRINKS ONLY from 1:30pm 🍻

On Monday the 24th August, the kitchen will again not be open and the pub will be open from 1pm for drinks only.

Hopefully if you follow this dude say hello to him 🍺 he’s doing a brilliant job of putting local pubs and bars on the map

Evening!

This Saturday I’ll be heading over to Southport, one of the North West’s best-known seaside towns. It’s famous for its elegant Victorian architecture, the impressive tree-lined Lord Street, its long pier and the wide open coastline stretching out towards the Irish Sea. Southport also has plenty of traditional seaside character, with Marine Lake, historic hotels and grand old buildings giving the town a very distinctive feel.

I’ll be spending the afternoon and evening exploring a good selection of pubs around the town, taking in a mix of traditional places, well-known favourites and a few different stops along the way. I’ve got a full route planned, so it should be a busy but enjoyable day with plenty of good beer and a chance to see a bit more of Southport as I make my way around.

WOW!

What an emotional day yesterday as we broke the news that we will be leaving.

We just wanted to take a moment to clear a few points up

🍺 it’s business as normal, all events, opening times, music etc are still on
🤗 all our staff know and are sad to see us go but happy for us
⏰ we don’t leave until 7th November (3 months away!)
🏠 the brewery, who we rent the pub off are actively looking for new tenants to carry on our great pub

Thanks again for all the lovely and kind comments, and it’s fantastic to know how much you have appreciated everything we’ve done ❤️
