🎃🦇 Happy Halloween, you beautiful lot!

The Nags has had a bit of a supernatural glow-up today. The b**rs are looking devilishly good, the snacks are suitably wicked and we’re ready for a Saturday full of spooky shenanigans.

First things first, take a look at what’s lurking on our b**r boards. Plenty of seriously tempting brews to get your claws into, but can you spot the ones that are practically made for Halloween?

🎃👻 Our Halloween Best-Dressed Creature Competition 🦇🐾

Got your costumes ready? Good. Because this Saturday (tomorrow), we’re putting £20 worth of b**r tokens up for grabs for the best-dressed creature at the Nags.

And when we say creature, we mean EVERYONE. Adults, little ones and your four-legged friends are all welcome to enter. The more creative, spooky, silly or downright spectacular, the better!

🏆 HOW TO ENTER!!!

🎃 Come to the Nags in costume on Saturday 31st October.

📸 If your outfit catches our eye and makes the shortlist, please be happy for us to take a photo for judging.

🖤 Our winner will be chosen by Team Nags, with help from our social media community.

📱 We’ll need your name and a way to privately contact you, whether that’s a social media handle, mobile number or email, so we can let you know if you’ve won.

👻 The winner will be announced on Monday 2nd November and will receive £20 worth of b**r tokens, to spend at the pub by 31st December 2026.

🔒 A note on little monsters: We’ll cover children’s faces in any photos shared on social media (with parental agreement) to protect their privacy.

🐾 A note on our furry friends: Pets are welcome, but as it’s a Saturday and we expect to be busy, we may need to call time on their visit a little earlier in the evening. Little ones are welcome until 9pm.

🐈‍⬛📚 Just your average day at the Nags…cat on a lead, casually browsing the bookshelves. Nothing to see here. 😂

We’ve always said the Nags is a pub for good people, and that includes the smaller humans and the furry, feathered, four-legged (and occasionally bookshelf-climbing) members of the family. ❤️ Bring your little ones, bring your furbabies, bring your lovely selves. There’s room for all sorts of creatures around here (with some considerations in place).

So get those costumes ready for everyone in your circle, whether they’re human, hound or something a little more otherworldly. 😈

Gary & Mark are back at the Nags tomorrow, bringing another evening of trivia and friendly competition. 💪

This time, we’re quizzing for CoppaFeel! 💗 the breast cancer awareness charity - a brilliant cause to get behind while having a bit of Sunday night fun.

So...gather your smarty pants mates, put those brain cells to work and come join us for a few rounds of questionable knowledge, good b**r and even better company. 🍻

Reading Football Club v Barnsley Football Club is on tomorrow, and the Nags is getting match day started properly. 💙🤍

Our footie bus is back, and so is the footie bus menu! 🍴🍺 We’re opening the pub doors at 11am, ready to serve up smiles, good b**r and plenty of sustenance before you head off to the Mad Stad.

Here’s the plan:
🚌 £5 cash return ticket
⏰ Bus departs at 2:15pm for the 3pm kick-off
🍔 Footie bus menu back on to fuel your pre-match antics until 2pm
🍻 Pints poured and a warm Nags welcome waiting

Tickets are first come, first served, so get down early, grab some food and a pint, and get yourself match-ready. Home or away, you’re welcome at ours. Just don’t ask us to predict the score. 😉⚽

In the cask cellar this week you may be mistaken for thinking there is a lot of Black Iris Brewery of Nottingham.

Your snake eyes do not deceive you…this is because we have had a pallet of them delivered to us and next Thursday we will be hosting a Black Iris cask tap takeover to kick off the Halloween weekend nicely.

Black Iris are making some of the best cask b**r in the country at the moment, and they also like the devil and satan and snakes and stuff so, you know, kinda works.

Expect it will still be on on Friday if you can’t make the Thursday evening, before the proper Halloween b**rs make their appearance on Saturday. More to come on that next week.

🎃👻📣 HALLOWEEN AT THE NAGS INCOMING!!! 📣👻🎃

It’s a little under two weeks, folks…and despite the best efforts of our resident Halloween Grinch, Jody, we’ve only gone and organised a proper Halloween party. 😂

Saturday 31st October, we’re getting our spooky on with:

🦇 Fancy dress encouraged - witches, vampires, monsters, questionable creatures…bring us your best.

🍬 Sweets galore - enough to keep the dentists of Reading in business for another year.

🍻 Black Iris Brewery showcase - plus plenty of other spooktacular b**rs to get your claws into.

🎶 Spooky tunes, Halloween vibes and a proper Nags get-together.

There’s even a £20 bar tab up for grabs for our best-dressed creature. 👀
