Wonderful news for Wymondham!

It is fantastic to see vital repairs now being carried out at our beautiful 800-year-old St Peter’s Church, thanks to this important grant.

St Peter’s is a treasured part of our village’s history and character, and we’re delighted that this work will help protect it for generations to come.

Wonderful progress for our village and everyone who has worked so hard to make it possible.

Vital repairs are now being carried out on the unsafe bell tower in an 800-year-old village church near Melton thanks to a lifeline grant.
The Grade One listed St Peter’s Church at Wymondham was on the Heritage at Risk Register and visitors were prevented from walking in the churchyard due to the dangers posed by the structural issues. Story in comments.

Christian Semmens was the very first person I met when I moved to Wymondham, and from that day he became a wonderful friend and one of our greatest supporters. His kindness and encouragement especially throughout COVID and the difficult period afterwards meant more to us than he probably realises.

Christian certainly enjoys a good debate, but he always argues with logic, never anger—that is simply part of his brilliant character!

Although he now lives in Cornwall and is enjoying life by the sea, he still returns from time to time. Whenever he walks through our doors, the stories, laughter and lively conversation soon begin again.

It is always great fun having you back, Christian.

It’s that time of year again! Grouse season is here, and Vernon Moore hasn’t forgotten his local—arriving with Ernie and some famous grouse… this time with feathers rather than a wh**ky label! 🥃😂

A proper seasonal delicacy, and we can’t wait to get cooking and bring it to the menu at The Berkeley Arms. Keep an eye on our specials and come along for a taste.

Thank you, Vernon , for looking after your local. Thoughtful people like you make village pub life so special.

What a lovely early-morning surprise! 🍇

A beautiful crate of freshly picked grapes, straight from our friend Ian Hickman’s own vine.

We’re incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such thoughtful and generous people. Thank you, Ian — now it’s over to the kitchen to create something delicious with them!

And just like that, another busy week begins at The Berkeley Arms!

We’re in the kitchen with big smiles, preparing our homemade pies for this Thursday’s special. This week’s flavour is something rather special — rabbit and plum, freshly made from scratch and packed with rich, comforting flavour.

Another day, another boot full of kindness. ❤️

Fresh onions, plums, squash and herbs from a wonderful allotment, generously grown and gathered for us. Then one of our own team turns up with apples and pears picked from a friend’s garden — because he was thinking of the pub.

This week, some of it will become a beautiful homemade apple & pear crumble.

This is what makes The Berkeley Arms special. Old staff, new staff, friends, locals and our wonderful village — everyone contributing in their own little way.

A thriving village pub isn’t built by one person. It’s built by a community. And we are immensely grateful for ours.
