Wondering about the big hole outside the Stag & Hounds?

No, we haven’t made so much money we need to bury it… and it’s not a final resting place for all those pumpkins either!

We’re having three-phase electricity installed — another step towards getting this lovely old pub ready for many years ahead.

Thank you for bearing with the digging. All for a good cause!

Our first pumpkin carving at the Stag & Hounds, and what a lovely afternoon!

Thank you for bringing the children along for pumpkin carving — we had great fun, and judging by the pumpkins, there’s plenty of imagination in the village!

What a night! Our first quiz at the Stag & Hounds, and a full house right through to the dining room. Plenty of laughter and a little healthy competition!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a cracking evening. A special thank-you to our quizmaster Ali and to Lewin for bringing it all together. You did us proud.

Lovely to see the village pub full of life. Here’s to the next one!

Another beautiful piece of work by Roll and Scroll proudly on display and carrying a special connection to Burrough on the Hill.

The Parachute Regiment badge honours a proud military history close to home. The 10th Battalion was stationed locally, including at Burrough Court, before leaving for the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944.

A thoughtful tribute to their courage and sacrifice, and a lovely example of local craftsmanship. Thank you, Roll and Scroll.

We will remember them.

A little local generosity on today’s specials board at the Stag & Hounds.

Pheasant kindly given to us by a local friend, served with a tomato, butter bean and chorizo cassoulet — made with tomatoes from our lovely neighbour, Jaane Treasure.

Simple food with a lovely community story behind it. Thank you to our friends and neighbours for sharing what you have. It means so much to us.
