Every now and again one of our lovely team moves on. Its always bittersweet, but it has always been because they are moving on to something bigger and better in their lives. Over the years we've seen Tom, Sam, Jethro, Percy and Rob all follow that path.

Now it is Jono's turn, as he heads back to Uni to become a teacher.

Jono leaves us in early September, so we will have a vacancy for some one to work every Friday and Saturday night and occasional shifts at other times of the week.

The successful applicant will probably start work for us in late August, and will required to work solo shifts at times once they are ready, and over the Christmas period. Training will be given, but anybody with an interest in what we do will certainly be of interest to us.

If you are in our Sour Beer Club, your quarterly selection is available to collect from the pub today at a cost of £45.

Lots of lovely fruitiness from some of our favourite sour brewers.

What a line-up of lovely fruit!! Mango, Blackberry, Blood Orange, Pineapple, Lime, Cherry, Blueberries, Tayberries, Honeyberries and Strawberries, along with cream and ice cream!!!

Here are the details of the beers.

Avzex x One Drop Operation Genome 6.0% - 440ml Can
A collab with the Australian smoothie sour specialists at One Drop Brewing. Ripe mango leads with soft tropical sweetness, layered into a thick, pulpy body. Blackberry cuts through with a sharp, jammy edge, adding depth and contrast against the sweetness. Rounded off with full ice cream-style texture. Sweet and tangy in balance, with a dense, creamy mouthfeel that carries from first sip to finish. Tropical upfront, berry sharpness underneath, all wrapped in a smooth, dessert-like body. Thick, vibrant and loaded with fruit.

Drop Project x Tap Social O-Zone 4.0% - 440ml Can
O-Zone is our latest collaboration with Tap Social, a super refreshing 4% Blood Orange Sour packed with bright citrus character, gentle tartness and an easy-drinking finish. Juicy blood orange leads the way with zesty, tangy notes balanced by a soft sweetness and clean acidity, making this the perfect sunshine beer for long afternoons and good company.

HCBC Caboose – 5.0 % - 440ml Can
A vibrant sour packed with blood orange, pineapple and lime, riding bright and bold to the end of the line. Dry hopped with Nectaron for waves of tropical aroma, finishing with a gentle bitterness that keeps everything on track.

Mort Subite Kriek – 4.0%- 375ml Bottle
Strong fruity flavour, followed by the typical sour touch all Belgian Kriek beers have in common.

Other World Serpentine – 5.7%- 440ml Can
Scottish Blueberries, Tayberries and Honeyberries combine for a bright, juicy and well-balanced sour. Expect a deceptively dry and easy drinking beer bursting with fruit character that keeps you coming back for more.

Yonder Strawberries and Cream – 4.5% - 440ml Can
Strawberries and Cream is a smooth and fruity pastry sour beer inspired by a true summer classic. Packed with sweet juicy strawberry and flavours of soft vanilla cream, it’s bright, luscious and totally irresistible. Best served at Centre Court.

We are very proud to announce that we've been awarded Mild Pub of The Year for the 3rd year in a row.

The award will be presented to us next Tuesday evening at 7.30pm. All are welcome to come and join us.

Huge thanks are due today after one of the most amazing Needle & Pin Sessions at the pub last night.

To Davis Rogan for coming all the way from New Orleans and wowing us with his music and raconteur skills supreme.

To Junkyard Cats Band for joining Davis for the second half and the most incredible hour of song, music and humour.

To Tim Clamp for making it all happen, the tickets, the show, everything!

To the wonderful folk who made it standing room only upstairs, who joined in with the songs, and gave Davis and The Junkyard Cats the biggest ovation we've ever had after a gig at the pub. It was lovely to see the huge smiles on your faces after the show.

To our Ben for his incredible hard work serving you all, as always. Very proud mum and dad, who are always in awe of how hard he works.

Davis and the Junkyard Cats have already agreed to join us again on the same day next year, Wednesday June 9th 2027.
