Only 2 weeks to go until Shantyfolk return to wow us with their songs of the sea.

Bookings are going rather well. It is free, but we do like to fill our upstairs for these local legends.

There are a maximum of 12 spaces left so if you have been thinking about booking, now is the time.

Please comment below or message us to book.

Come on, lets fill the room for them, and help them raise lots of money for local charities.

The local legends Shantyfolk are back for their only gig of the year at The Needle & Pin on Saturday 14th November.

As always the gig is free, though they will have a collection on the night to help them raise lots of money for local charities. We always pop a sizeable donation in. to get them started.

Booking isn't essential, but we do recommend it. Everyone booking will find a seat with their name on it on the night.

Please comment below or send the pub a message to secure your seats. Doors will be at 7 and the show starts at 8pm.

Thank you to everyone who packed us out for the Pumpkin Weigh-in and Pork Pie and Red W**e Festival last night. What an amazing night we had.

We will have a few of the Chambers Bury Pork Pies and some Hollis and Gamble Pork Pies for sale tonight on the bar. They are incredibly good. You can reserve them by commenting below or messaging us but be quick!

There are still some red wines left, though you did manage to polish off 6 of the 15 wines last night. Still plenty of the 2 red sparkling, some of the 2 whites and 5 of the reds.

Our Annual Red W**e Fest is next weekend, starting on Thursday.

Lots of lovely still, sparkling and sweet red wines, and a couple of whites as well.

We have a lot booked for Thursday already, let us know if you would like to book on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. As always, when the're gone, they're gone.

Congratulations to Simon, the winner of our annual pumpkin growing competition.

His pumpkin weighed in at a colossal 213lb!! Look at his smiley face. He is getting pretty good at this vegetable growing lark!

Samichlaus is back from today, but as always, when its gone, its gone.

Brewed once a year on 6th December and aged for 10 months before bottling, this is the 2025 Vintage.

Samichlaus is one of the rarest b**rs in the world and at 14%, it is one of the strongest of its kind. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish.

Our annual Red W**e Festival starts today and runs until Sunday evening.

15 wines, 1 bottle of each.

We are going to be very busy from 7pm tonight, but there is plenty of room tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.

Massive thanks to the absolute legend that is One Man No Biscuit for an incredible gig upstairs last night. One of our best ever Needle & Pin sessions.

49 songs, lots of favourites. What a triumph. Thanks to all who came from near and far and joined in with a brilliant few hours of HMHB classics and obscurities. Your generous donations raised £102 for LOROS as well.

Stick the same day on your calendar for 2027, Saturday 23rd October. He will be back.

Loughborough's Big Poetry Night is back for the last time this year.

Pop 7pm, Tuesday 27th October in your diary. All welcome, and whether you're just coming to listen, or fancy a go at Open Mic.

This month explores the turning of the year and Halloween, where the veil between one world and the next is thinned.

Our headliner is folklore expert and supernatural fiction writer, Dr James Chantry. His recent publications include Out of This Wold, and he's hosted Q***r folklore and writing events, as well as pursuing his own performance art.

There will be the usual book table and Open Mic (do bring along something a bit gothic if you have it). Poetry and prose welcome equally.

Plus, host, Deborah Tyler-Bennett, will be reading from her Victorian fairy tale inspired poem 'Long Tom and the Rat Queen', a tale of the nineteenth-century sewers.'
