An addendum to my previous postcard post, (because it’s me and I had to see what I could find!) images from Pirton local history group who may be interested in the postcard. John Edward Thrussell, postmaster and boot maker/repairer, born 1885, writer of the card!

A fantastic snapshot of the past, with a connection to Lichfield. So why was John in Lichfield in 1917? The postmark is ‘Whittington Barracks’ and John served in the First World War, I think we have it!

A few more vintage b**r mats on display, 1970’s-80’s with the exception of top left ‘Mello’ which is possibly late 1950’s. Mello was a milk stout, brewed with milk sugar (lactose) for a natural creamy sweetness.
