It is a profoundly sad time for all those of us involved in Lichfield’s hospitality industry.

Two of our own have been taken far too soon.

Please join us in remembering these two legends.

Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to their families, friends and staff.

Take time to cherish those close to you. Hold them a little tighter when you see them, as these tragic events have demonstrated that life is both fragile and precious.

Please note that as a mark of respect we will not be posting our usual update this week.

We’ve got some exciting events lined up this weekend!

We’re delighted to be part of Lichfield District Council’s Purple Flag trail this weekend. Simply pick up your trail booklet and sticker when you enjoy a drink at the Whippet from Friday through Sunday.

How the Trail Works

Visitors can collect a Purple Flag Trail booklet from participating venues while supplies last.

Participants will receive one sticker per participating venue after purchasing at least one drink.

Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks qualify.

To complete the trail, participants need to collect six stickers from six different participating venues.

Once you’ve finished, you can redeem your completed trail booklet for a special reusable Purple Flag pint cup at selected redemption venues.

And get this—we’re thrilled to be an Operation Mayfly 2026 venue this weekend! We’ll have two casks of Neon Raptor’s special annual beer available over the weekend—a single beer that will be distributed and enjoyed nationwide this weekend.

We’re planning to start serving this wonderful beer later this evening and throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Just a friendly reminder that we won’t be open on Bower Day.

A bank holiday weekend is just around the corner, and while we won’t be open on Bower Day, we’ve got plenty of refreshing ales to keep you cool as the weather warms up.

There is also some exciting news about events commencing this Friday 22nd May as Lichfield celebrates its Purple Flag Status.

🍺 What’s on the Pumps

Pump 1

Start with a gluten-free pale ale from Siren, followed by traditional bitters from Salopian and Shiny.

Pump 2

Sip on session pales and IPAs, including some gluten-free options from Tartarus, Black Iris, Dark Revolution, Howling Hops and Brass Castle.

This week, our stronger beer selection includes IPAs and pales from The Kernel, Thornbridge, Two By Two and not one but two casks of Neon Raptor’s Operation Mayfly 2026. Available from Friday, this Bank Holiday special - one Beer, enjoyed across the UK, all on the same weekend! A great way to celebrate the City’s purple flag status. 💜
