A wee update from me…

I’ve made the decision to keep the shop closed today.

Since becoming a dad, I’ve realised more than ever just how special time with family is… and how quickly it all goes by. We’ve got family heading back home after spending the summer here, so I’m taking the day to spend some proper time with them before they go.

Thanks for understanding ❤️ We’ll be back open as usual tomorrow!

A MASSIVE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR FRIENDS Vault City Brewing

Featuring all 8 birthday beers, a homemade party hat and one very overexcited beer lover.

I still remember grabbing a quick coffee with the guys to convince them to let me pour their Mango Sour at a beer festival we were both attending. I’d seen it on Instagram beforehand and just knew we *needed* it on tap. Thankfully they said yes!

We were the first stall to kick a keg that day and, honestly, Vault City has pretty much been a permanent fixture in our shop ever since.

Oh... and let’s not forget the time they actually went along with one of my ridiculous ideas to add caffeine to an American-style soda sour. I can’t tell you what beer it was... but use your imagination. ⛰️💚

Anyways... Thanks for all the incredible beers, the laughs, the memories and, of course, the hangovers.

8 years is a hell of an achievement.

Keep doing what you’re doing. We love your weird and wonderful ways. ❤️🍻

WE’VE HAD A GLOW UP 💅

About 6 weeks ago we started renovating the shop... again.

The reality is we’ve never had the upfront money to create the vision we always had in our heads. So every chance we get to improve it, we take it.

This is the latest chapter.

✔️ Triple-glazed windows
✔️ Windows restored back to their original height
✔️ The original-style ribbed glass reinstated
✔️ A brand new timber-clad shopfront

The result? A shopfront that’s sexy AF. But more importantly, it feels like it belongs here. It’s much closer to the timeless, historic character the building deserves.

It’s also warmer in winter, cooler in summer, flooded with natural light, and somehow makes the shop feel twice the size.

The transformation has been so dramatic that customers have genuinely walked straight past us thinking we’ve disappeared. 😂

We’re not quite finished yet... A hand-painted sign is still to come once our sign writer finishes a few other projects, and we genuinely think that’ll be the icing on the cake.

MORE UPDATES ❤️ Good news + bad news-ish

Good news:

Would you look at that beauty there 😍 that’s our new aircon/heating system which is going to make drinking at GG way more comfortable regardless of the weather outside

Bad news:

The shop is still a bit of a riot and I’m not sure if I’ll manage to open for sit in. If I do open, then it’ll be later in the evening. I’m still happy to serve anyone for takeaway drinks, so feel free to pop in and have a chat/browse if you’re in the area.

Awww, man, I’m still buzzing from yesterday’s I had an absolute blast! Thanks to everyone that made it so special. Honestly, seeing soo many familiar faces of people that we’ve gotten to know over the last 10 years is an emotion that’s filled me up with unique joys I’ve never felt before.

That being said, I’m absolutely shattered after the last 4 months of organising + a 16 hours shift yesterday! And on top of that I’m back in tomorrow as we start a new project at the shop- ventillation, air conditioning, heating + triple glazing! No rest for the wicked!

Again, I can’t thank everyone enough. Thanks for making this fella one happy man!

Should we make Big Ol’ Beer Fest an annual event?

Well, today is the day!

Big Ol’ Beer Fest was never supposed to be a sold-out festival. In fact, it was never even supposed to be a festival.

The original plan was simple: brew a couple of birthday collab beers, put them on tap, and have a chilled party at the shop. But after some encouragement from our amazing customers, we decided to shoot for the moon.

Never in a million years did I think we’d sell out the event. I’m genuinely humbled by the support.

A huge shoutout to all of our loyal customers and regulars who encouraged me to take a chance on this crazy idea. Thank you to my amazing wife for always supporting me, even when my ideas get a little ambitious. And a very special thank you to all of the incredible breweries who entertained my ideas, welcomed me with open arms, and helped make celebrating 10 years of Grunting Growler possible.

Today is going to be something special, and I can’t wait to chug a few beers with everyone!

Fest week is upon us!! And we’re ready to have the best day ever!!

Here’s a little run of what to expect on the day:
