Three intriguing newl drams this week

🥃Laphroaig Elements L 1.0

The first release in the Islay distillery’s new Elements Series, a collection dedicated to innovation and experimentation in whisky making.

For this inaugural expression, distillers explored the impact of production variables by using both clear and cloudy wort, produced in two differently sized mash tuns, before a 55-hour fermentation. The spirit was then matured exclusively in bourbon casks and bottled at a robust 58.6% ABV

🥃Ardnamurchan Tokaji Cask Release

Another intriguing release from Ardnamurchan’s ever-experimental cask series

This expression began life in 28 unpeated bourbon barrels filled in 2018 before being re-racked into Hungarian Tokaji wine casks for just over two years. The whisky was then married with two fully matured bourbon barrels, creating a unique dram that balances floral sweetness, vibrant fruit character, and the distinctive funky charm of this west coast dram. It is bottled at 52%

🥃Ardbeg Dolce

Dolce (meaning 'sweet') marries the rich fruity sweetness of Sicilian Marsala dessert wine with the intense islay smokiness of Ardbeg. It is bottled at 47.8%

Smooth and elegant, matured in 90% ex-bourbon American oak casks and 10% ex-sherry European oak casks. Bottled at 46%.

🥃 Napier
Rich and sherried, matured for over 6 years in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46%.

🥃 Fortnight
Bold, smoky and heavily peated — produced during the two-week period at the end of each year. Bottled at 46%.

A Double Dose of Decadence

🥃Glenturret 2013 12 year
This 'gloriously over the top' peated malt was matured for term in a single recharred hogshead and is bottled at 54.3%

🥃Ben Nevis 2012 12 year
This rugged, oily malt was matured for its full twelve years in a first-fill bourbon hogshead and is bottled at 53%

Three very interesting wine casked malts in this week

🥃Deanston 17 Orange Wine Cask

Matured for 15 years in ex-bourbon casks and then transferred to orange wine casks for a further two years. Bottled at 53.6%

*Not to be mistaken with the white wine with grape skin contact, this orange wine is a fortified wine, infused with sundried orange peel from Andalusia, Spain
'Vino de Naranja'

🥃Glasgow 1770 Passito Di Caluso 6 year

This peated malt was first matured in ex-Wild Turkey bourbon casks before being finished for 20 months in ex-Passito Di Caluso casks. Bottled at 57.8%

*Passito di Caluso is a traditional dessert wine from the Piedmont region of Italy, just north of Turin. It is made from the Erbaluce variety of grape that is high in acidity and aroma. It is aged for a minimum of 4 years

🥃Kilchoman Fino Matured

This heavily peated 2023 limited edition was fully matured in 20 Fino sherry casks from Cadiz, Spain.
Bottled at 50%

*Fino being the driest and slightly more vegetal version of the sherries found in the sherry triangle

🥃Bruichladdich OLD SKOOL

To commemorate their 25th anniversary Bruichladdich have released this limited 10 year old bottling, only using barley grown on Islay. It is primarily matured in first fill bourbon casks with a small part matured in first fill Sauternes. Bottled at 50%

Two delicious single casks in from RMW

🥃Bowmore 2005 20 Year Old
Matured for full term in a single ex-bourbon cask. This is Bowmore character is its most raw and delicious form. Bottled at 52.6%

🥃Clynelish 2015 10 Year Old
A combination of five separate hogshead casks, this is the ultimate expression of this much loved waxy spirit and the first time we've had a single cask Clynelish on the gantry. Bottled at 46%
