Dear Friends,

Firstly, a word of sincere thanks to those of you who have joined us over the past few weeks, and braved the chilly weather. It’s a joy to see you again and start to have some semblance of normality!
We hope to be able to welcome you inside from 19th May.
Online reservations can be made for tables from 19th May. We will be open for lunch and dinner Wednesday to Sunday inclusive. Some restrictions still exist and for brevity these are the key points to remember.

- The Rule of Six or two households
- Hands – there is sanitiser located outside the pub and by the toilets
- Face – bring a facemask, you’ll need it if you go to spend to spend a penny!
- Space – Whilst we would love to shake your hand or give you a hug, social distancing is still required.

NHS track and trace/Check in is now required for all guests.

As we will be returning to normal, we have decided now is the time to stop Take Away Fish and Chips on Friday and the shop will no longer be available. We are simply too small a team to do the groceries, guest rooms, breakfast service and then lunch and dinner.
Last orders for Fish and chips will be Friday 14th May and for the shop the weekend of 14th and 15th May.

I would like to thank you all for all the support you have given us over the past 12 months. It has been a joy to serve you and it also gave me a sense of purpose and sanity in the most difficult of months. You have helped us survive as a business.

As many of you know, we have planning permission to convert our barn into a small shop. When funds allow, it’s a project I would like to fulfill and be able to offer the village. It sadly, will not be this year. Now is the time to hang up my Arkwright apron and move to being a publican again. Thank you.

Good Evening

Yesterday felt like Spring had truly arrived. Today Autumn is back!
Below are some of the pictures you kindly sent of “Finish at Home” from Saturday. Thank you all for your kindness in sending them and your kind words. Alex is preparing one more before we reopen. Saturday 3rd April.

The menu will follow next week. So this is a date for the diary.

Reopening:

We plan to offer drinks only on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 10pm.

Friday and Saturday we will offer lunch 12 to 2pm, dinner 5.30pm to 8.30pm and the bar will be open from 12noon to 10pm.

Sunday we will open from 12 noon until 10pm and offer food from 12noon to 6pm.

We will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

This limited operation will be in place until mid-May, when we hope to be able to welcome guests inside the pub.

Concerning reservations, we would ask you call or email your reservation requests to us, they will not be available online. We would also ask for your understanding, that in the evening we really need to turn the tables once, thus giving an approximate time of 1.5 hours for a meal. This should allow time to enjoy a meal and allow us to still be here in May when things can be a little more relaxed.

We will set aside a few tables for people to come and enjoy a drink, but again would advise calling and we will set aside a table for you.

As you are probably aware the rule of 6 applies or two households, as with previous easing of restrictions. Please note our largest table in the garden is 6. Most tables are for four guests.

Good afternoon. Boris as you know, spoke last night with a road map of ending restrictions for us all. Slow and steady. With more people vaccinated and social distancing working, we hope to see this pandemic start to disappear.

So, I know the question you are all asking – when will we reopen?
As you are aware, we do have outside space, but it is limited by the number of tables and space we have. As a business, we first must calculate the viability of operating on such a reduced capacity. Be assured we are looking at it closely, and hope to have a decision by next week, when we will inform you. We wish to open as soon as possible, but can only sensibly do so if our running costs are covered.

A HUGE Thank you from us all for your kindness in ordering our first “Finish at Home“ Meals over the past weekend. Your feedback and fabulous pictures have been a real boost to morale here. Thank you. This was a first for us, and we are so pleased to have dipped our toe in the water.

After the bustle of last week and putting everything together for the weekend, along with a busy shop and Fish and Chips on Friday, coming back today seems a little flat.

Still not know for sitting for too long thinking about how much longer we will be in lockdown, we look forward to this week and a little further ahead.

I’m delivering beer on Thursday, so if you would like some please call and order before then and I’ll deliver. We currently have 500ml bottles of Harveys’ Best, Old Porter, Tom Paine and some 275ml bottles of wonderful Christmas Ale. Prices are on the shopping list at our web site. Min 6 bottles for delivery.

The Shop list is also updated and orders as usual can be made anytime during the week, up to 5pm on Thursday for Friday collection/delivery and 5pm on Friday for Saturday.
