🍽️ The New Inn - A little update about our Sunday Roasts

As we head into the quieter months, our Sunday Roast will move from weekly to monthly, on the third Sunday of each month.

We’ve always said that services need enough support to make them viable. Unfortunately, with quieter Sundays ahead, opening every week through the quieter season no longer makes sense.

We’d much rather focus on one properly busy Sunday Roast each month, with a full kitchen, plenty of choice and a great atmosphere.

Our upcoming Sunday Roasts will be:

Sunday 18 October

Sunday 15 November

There will be no regular Sunday Roast in December, as we’ll be serving our Christmas menu on Sundays.

We’ll then take a break from regular Sunday lunches through January and February, with a special Easter Sunday Roast on 28 March. We may also offer another roast during the Easter school holidays, with monthly Sunday Roasts continuing afterwards.

As we move back into the busy season, Sunday Roasts will return weekly again.

If you enjoy having a proper Sunday Roast at your village pub, please come along and support the monthly services. Bookings are strongly appreciated. ❤️

‼️Weekly Special‼️

This week’s special is something a little different, and an awful lot of work has gone into it.

Slow-Braised Stuffed Squid, £24.95

Whole squid tubes, hand-filled with chorizo, herbed rice, garlic, lemon and parsley, then slowly cooked until tender in a rich sauce of Palmers Orchard Gold cider, tomato and smoked paprika.
The squid is sliced into thick medallions and served with creamy mash, buttered seasonal greens and a crisp paprika crumb.
Rich, smoky, deeply savoury and properly comforting. Not a dainty little seafood plate, but a generous countryside pub dinner with plenty going on.

We have made a limited batch, so once it is gone, it is gone!

‼️COMING TO THE MENU TOMORROW‼️

🍽️Ten-Hour Red Wine Lamb Shank! £25.95

This has involved a frankly unreasonable amount of work, and we are very excited about it.

Each lamb shank is seasoned, browned by hand and individually vacuum sealed with a carefully prepared red wine cooking liquor, built slowly from caramelised vegetables, rich stock, herbs and all the good bits from the pan.

It then cooks gently for ten hours, until the lamb is so tender it is barely hanging onto the bone.

And we’re not stopping there.

The cooking juices are collected, strained and skimmed, then turned into a deep, glossy red wine gravy with just enough redcurrant jelly to round everything off. Rich, savoury, slightly fruity, and specifically designed to be dragged through an indecent amount of creamy buttered mash.

Served with seasonal vegetables, plenty of that red wine gravy, and absolutely no attempt at restraint.

It is also completely gluten-free.

We’ve only made ten, and they are available from tomorrow.

If this isn’t the best dish you’ve ever had at The New Inn, Jack’ll eat his apron!
