Bletchley had won the Bucks Cup 2 years in a row under the Captaincy of Peter Gubb in 1983/4 and 1984/5, winning the Bucks Cup gave entry to the 1st round of the John Player Cup the following year. In 1984/5 Bletchley then played Redruth away and lost 26-9. In 1985/6 Bletchley beat Maidenhead in the 1st round 20-9 and then lost to Havant 9-6 at home the week after this video. Havant lost to Cambourne in the next round which also included all of the Senior clubs as they were known.

Peter Gubb had moved on and Alban Turney was captain for 1985/6. You will see some familiar faces in the video, Alban Turney, Jack Moseley and Ian Nobes. Also there was Jack Simmonds a founder member of the club and first captain and just behind him was Vernon Jones a captain from the 1950s, also Pete Webster was there on the touchline (just visible in one shot) and looked after the presenter and cameraman.

Special thank you to club stalwart Pete Webster for his collaboration pulling this together. ๐Ÿ‘

After back-to-back away victories, the 1st XV return to home soil this Saturday as we welcome Amersham & Chiltern IIโ€™s to The Manor for another important league fixture.

And with our Invitational Vets taking to the pitch beforehand, thereโ€™s a full afternoon of rugby lined up!

The 1st XV return to The Manor following another strong result on the road, securing a bonus-point victory over Chinnor Outlaws last weekend.

With wins against Risborough and Chinnor now behind them, the boys will be looking to carry that momentum into Saturdayโ€™s home fixture and continue their positive start to the league campaign.

Thereโ€™ll also be a premium pitchside BBQ, prepared by an award-winning chef, with Wagyu burgers, chicken wings and more on offer throughout the afternoon.

Two matches, a great BBQ and a full day at The Manor.

Get down early, support the Vets, grab some food and stay to get behind the 1st XV as they look to make it three wins on the bounce!

This Saturday sees the long-awaited return of Vets rugby to Bletchley, as the Mark Sharp Invitational Vets take on Milton Keynes Vets in their first fixture since the teamโ€™s relaunch!

Led by Coach Alban Turney and Coach/Manager Paul Allen, a number of familiar faces will be pulling on the shirt once again, with former players coming together for this invitational fixture.

๐Ÿค The Vets fixture is kindly sponsored by Just MOTs, whose support in helping us bring Vets rugby back to Manor Fields is greatly appreciated!

And with our 1st XV taking on Amersham & Chiltern IIโ€™s later in the afternoon, thereโ€™s every reason to make a full day of it!

Weโ€™re also stepping things up off the pitch, with an award-winning chef serving up a premium pitchside BBQ, featuring Trufflehouse Wagyu burgers, a selection of chicken wings, mac โ€˜nโ€™ cheese pots and more. Certainly not your average rugby club BBQ! ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”ฅ

Get down early to support the invitational side, enjoy some fantastic food and stay to get behind the 1st XV. The Ankle Tap Bar will be open from midday and throughout the afternoon! ๐Ÿป

Weโ€™ve had a fantastic response to the fixture, and now we want to see that support on the touchline.

Come down, support the invitational side and help us get this next chapter of rugby at Bletchley underway!

Unfortunately, Olney havenโ€™t been able to raise a team for tomorrowโ€™s fixture, so the walkover has been awarded to Bletchley.

Weโ€™ll be back in action next Sunday as we travel away to Aylesbury. See you there! ๐Ÿ‘Š
