Golden Age Cinema and Bar has restored and reinvented the old screening room of the heritage-listed Paramount Pictures building in Surry Hills, Sydney. The former screening room of Paramount House has been carefully renovated by a bewitching collective of architects, interior designers, auteurs and furniture makers. No movie ticket? You are always welcome in the bar which is open before, during and after each screening. Tucked away beneath the street, we’ve brought together some of the most interesting producers we could find to cast a great list of quality wines, beers, cocktails and food. Paramount House is a cultural, architectural and literal cornerstone of the area of Surry Hills once known as the ‘Hollywood Quarter’. Built in 1940 in a Late Deco style, it shows how elegance can be achieved by focusing on what is essential. Already regarded as a hub for many of Sydney’s creative businesses, the story of Paramount House is only just beginning.
