- Intermediate Partnered Charleston (3-week Special Topics) w/ Julianne and Kevin

On Tuesday, 6/2, we are so excited to have the Craig Gildner Quartet ft. Seth Kibel bring us a night of live music!!

Before the social dance, at 8pm, we will also have two special one-off classes:
1️⃣ Lindy Hop Partnering Technique and Flow, and
2️⃣ Switch Dancing in Lindy Hop

SCHEDULE:

✨This June, dance the night away in the beautiful and historic Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park to live music from the Tim Christopher Quartet featuring Imani Rousselle!✨

From 8:00 pm-9:00 pm we’ll have an introductory swing dance lesson to get you all the basics you need (no partner or experience required). Then from 9:00 pm-midnight dance the night away to this swinging band! Admission is $30 ($20 if you register in advance) and covers the drop-in class and the dance.

Make sure to check out the NCS All-levels Lindy Hop Workshop with Hanna Yanello and Sean Vitale also taking place in the Spanish Ballroom earlier in the day!

✨This June, New Columbia Swing is so excited to bring you Hanna Yanello and Sean Vitale All Levels Lindy Hop Workshop!✨

What: 4-Hour All Level Lindy Hop Workshop with visiting instructors, Hanna Yanello and Sean Vitale

When: Saturday, June 6, 2026 1:00-5:30 pm

Where: Glen Echo Park, Spanish Ballroom

Prerequisites: Familiarity with 6-count and 8-count Lindy Hop including side passes, circles, tuck turns, and swingouts

Pricing: $75 In advance, $85 At the door

Note: Admission does not include the evening dance. Be sure to register for the dance in advance to save $10 (https://newcolumbiaswing.org/dancing/)

Lindy Hop - Gettin’ Comfy in Connection

Partnership is a core value in the way that Hanna and Sean create in Lindy Hop. One way in which we seek to honor partnership with each other and throughout social dancing is by finding comfortable connection. We will discuss ways to create comfort and clarity in connection while seeking to maximize the support for self expression in both roles.

Solo Jazz + Lindy - Say Hi to Solo

Vernacular Jazz and Lindy Hop are two expressions of the same cultural values, music, people, and moment in time. These distinct practices inform each other and while distinct, are beautiful and meaningful when integrated. In this course we will spend 1 hour embodying vernacular jazz as individuals and the next hour we will integrate those steps into partner dancing.

In the week of , starting Tuesday 4/21, go to as many dances as you can, and collect a stamp for each evening dance you attend!

For each stamp you collect, you get a chance to win:
- One month of dances at Capital Blues,
- Any NCS class series or single event, or
- Pass to DCLX 2027 or a single DCLXtra in 2026!

To enter the live drawing, bring your Dance Card to New Columbia Swing on Tuesday 4/28.

Alternatively, to enter the online drawing, tag a public post on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag and a picture or reel that include your stamps. We will conduct the online drawing on Friday 5/1.

✨Join us for a special night of live music from Craig Gildner’s J.A.M. Quintet and celebrate Jazz History Month!✨

On Tuesday, 4/14, we are so excited to have Craig Gildner’s very special J.A.M. Quintet bring us a night of live music!

Before the social dance, at 8pm, we will also have a special one-off class: World of Floorcraft! Learn the art of navigating a crowded dance floor and practice strategies for avoiding collisions and injuries. This class is perfect for all levels of dance experience and will help you hone your overall technique in addition to making the dance more fun for everyone in the space, including you and your partner!
