THURSDAY NOVEMBER 3rd at Thee Stork Club :::
✩ THE SPYRALS (SF) Spyrals
“Led by guitarist/vocalist Jeff Lewis alongside Georgia Feroce (keys/vocals) and Dash Borinstein (drums), The Spyrals’ strip their fuzzed-out rock’n’roll back to its most instinctive form on ‘Heavy Smoke’: live, loose and locked into the groove. Where earlier records have moved between cavernous garage jangle, bluesy fuzz, psych repetition and sun-baked country, ‘Heavy Smoke’ throws those strands into what Lewis calls “a blender of all those styles” – and then hits record before the moment can disappear.” - 𝗙𝗨𝗭𝗭 𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗕
✩ ALEX E.T. (LA) 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐗 𝐄.𝐓. 🥀
Emerging from ever-evolving California underground, Los Angeles based songwriter/guitarist Alex E.T. (Alexandra Elaine Tapié) comes out swinging in full technicolor on her latest album Color of Strange out on Curation Records. With producer Ethan Miller (Heron Oblivion, Howlin’ Rain, Comets on Fire) and engineer Eric Bauer (Ty Segall, Osees, Wand) at the controls, Alex E.T. and her band deliver a mix of swirling, crunching guitars with high caliber, pop-infused songcraft. MOJO praised the album’s “soup of electric guitar howl and brooding intensity,” with producer Miller calling it “a rough-cut chunk of Los Angeles’ grand musical myth in a bottle.”
✩ UFO BABY (SF) UFO BABY
San Francisco/Oakland-based UFO Baby is chasing a sound both familiar and new, each song inching towards an evolving vision. Influences range from Stereolab to Syd Barrett, from Les Rallizes Dénudés to Ennio Morricone. Songs inspired by identity, nonsense, Sun Ra, mental health, and anything in between. UFO Baby invites you to wind down, hop on, and ascend.
