Cúpla Pints is back for Episode Fifteen, and this time we’re handing the taps over to Derry-born musician SOAK, who’s no stranger to performing at The Dead Rabbit, but is a little less familiar with what goes on behind the bar…

We find out where the name SOAK came from, how songwriting helps them make sense of the world, and why their upcoming fourth album, Decembers, feels like a full-circle moment.

We also chat about their collaboration with Fred Again, which saw SOAK venture into spoken-word poetry, their favorite Irish musicians, and must-visit Derry pubs.

As for the Guinness? Well, SOAK reckons their pint has character and charm, although our resident judge, Gráinne, has a slightly different opinion…

From November 16th onward, all three of our floors and all five of our bars will be transformed into Jingle Jangle.

That means tinsel, sparkling lights, baubles, and garlands everywhere, with one festive menu served throughout the entire building.

So, if you’re looking to get your Parlor fix before Santa and his reindeer take over, consider this your final warning. Our 22 Parlor cocktails will be tucked away until January, making room for a whole lot of Christmas cheer.

Get them while you can.

Google reviews are one thing, but have you ever looked at Yelp?

Reserved for the angriest of guests, this dark and dingy corner of the internet is absolute gold when it comes to feedback.

Now, we’ve got way more five-star reviews than bad ones, but occasionally, negative ones do happen. That’s part and parcel of running a bar. We reply to every single one, investigate anything concerning, and take critical comments very seriously - genuinely, we do.

That said, in the fourth episode of The Complaints Department, our Customer Relations Manager, Jack McGarry, is taking on everything from toddlers being ID’d and guests being asked to say please and thank you, to our apparently dumb menu and excessively loud music.

Truth be told, Jack would like to turn it down a little, too.

And just like that, the spirits have returned to the Otherworld for another year.

After four weeks of Samhain celebrations, carved turnips, corn stalks, and a few familiar faces from Irish folklore, our annual takeover has come to an end.

On Halloween itself, we swapped ancient Irish traditions for a good old-fashioned American costume party, and you certainly understood the assignment.

From the wonderfully weird to the downright terrifying, the costumes were a sight to behold, not forgetting our best-dressed guest, who walked away with a $100 bar tab.

Now… time to get Mariah out of the freezer.

As far as we’re concerned, November 1st means we’re officially in the festive season - so it’s time to start planning New Year’s Eve.

This year, we’re keeping things simpler than ever, and it won’t take long to explain. We’ll be open as normal. Yep, that’s it. No tickets, no dress code, no annoying deposits.

Daytime bookings will open two weeks in advance, with doors from 11am - 2am, and walk-ins (and adults) only after 6pm.

Fancy outfits are welcome, and the bar will be stocked with Ch*****ne should you wish to toast the bells at midnight. But if you’d rather wear a tracksuit and drink pints, that’s quite alright with us.

Now, isn’t that a relief?

Today, Ireland mourns the loss of one of its finest athletes.

Ciara Mageean, the middle-distance runner from Portaferry, County Down, has passed away at just 34 years old, following a battle with cancer.

Ciara represented Ireland at two Olympic Games, in Rio and Tokyo, and made history in 2024 when she won gold in the 1500m at the European Athletics Championships in Rome, becoming the first Irish individual European champion since Sonia O’Sullivan.

It was a remarkable achievement, and the culmination of years of dedication, determination, and hard work.

From her early days playing camogie in Portaferry to representing Ireland on the world stage, she carried the hopes of an entire nation with her. She showed young athletes, particularly young women, what was possible through talent, perseverance, and an extraordinary commitment to her sport.

In 2025, Ciara was diagnosed with cancer. In October of this year, she married her longtime partner, Thomas Moran, just weeks before her passing.

We wish we weren't so well acquainted with the devastation cancer can bring to families. It's a cruel disease, and one that has taken far too many people far too soon.

Our deepest sympathies are with Thomas, Ciara's family, her friends, her teammates, and everyone in Portaferry and across Ireland who is grieving her loss.

Sure, you could cover yourself in a white bedsheet and say boo - but that won’t win any prizes around here.

Our Samhain takeover wraps up on November 1st, but there’s one last big hurrah this weekend.

We’ve got a DJ tonight from 10pm - 2am, and as we do every year, we’ll be crowning our best-dressed guest at midnight, with a $100 bar tab up for grabs.

No rules, no guidelines, no stipulations - just come dressed to spook.

The scarier, the better.

At The Dead Rabbit, 100% of our music comes from Irish artists, but much to Liam’s annoyance, not every song makes the cut.

There’s a wealth of contemporary Irish music embracing neo-trad, alternative folk, and darker, more brooding sounds. And while we love it, it’s not necessarily the soundtrack you want while tucking into a corned beef sandwich at 2pm on a Saturday.

What it does lend itself to, though, is spooky season.

With so many Irish artists drawing inspiration from the history, myths, and legends surrounding Samhain, we’ve put together a Halloween playlist that explores the darker side of Irish music, featuring some of the freshest and most exciting artists coming out of the island today.

All Night Apple - enjoy it alcohol-free, or add a little boost of booze.

This brand-new autumnal punch brings together warming spices, including Vietnamese cassia, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg, brightened with lemon and apple c***r.

Comforting yet refreshing, it’s made with a base of Three Spirit Nightcap and can be enjoyed just as it is, or with a splash of wh***ey, tequila, vodka, rum, or gin (the list goes on) to take things up a notch.

Available now in The Taproom.

The clue’s in the name - our Sunday Roast is usually reserved for just that - the last day of the week, served to the sound of our live Irish Seisiún.

But occasionally, we make an exception.

On Thanksgiving, one month from today, get it on a Thursday, featuring our hearty, new-and-improved combination of roasted sirloin of beef, bread stuffing, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese gratin, roasted vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, beef gravy, and horseradish cream.

And because no feast is complete without dessert, we recommend following it up with our Irish Coffee Tiramisu or Irish Cream Bread and Butter Pudding.

Enough to make you thankful, indeed.

Have you tried the Matchbook Distilling Co. Jenny Lind Melon yet? You’re in for a treat. Made from an heirloom varietal that once ruled the East Coast, this thirst-quenching aperitif is bright and juicy, made by macerating the fruit’s flesh in Long Island Chardonnay, and fortifying it with a distillate of the rinds.

In our new Nightingale Spritz, it shines alongside Glendalough Rose Gin, with elderflower amaro for a slightly bitter and floral note, topped with Sparkling Rosé.

Light, refreshing, and crisp - get it now in The Taproom.

Our Irish Wh***ey Genius grads don’t just study the spirit, they live it. Later this month, Cory, Viv, Nate, Jacob Depreact, Jacob Nolan and Olly are heading off on a whistle-stop adventure through Galway, Dublin, Belfast, and beyond, as a well-earned reward for their hard work.

They’ll be visiting the teams at Micil, J.J. Corry, Teeling, Echlinville, Boann, Guinness, and more, with stops at incredible bars like O'Loclainn's, O'Donoghues, BAR 1661, and The Sackville Lounge - and of course, there’ll be Irish Coffees on the Cliffs of Moher.

If you see us on our travels, say sláinte - and if you get invited to one of our events, RSVP tá. Ireland, we can't wait to see you.

Belfast boxer Michael Conlan makes his long-awaited Dublin debut on September 5th at the 3Arena, squaring off against Leeds fighter Jack Bateson - and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

“I am truly honored to be fighting in Dublin for the first time in my professional career,” says Conlan. “I boxed countless times in the city as an amateur, and achieved so much of my success there, so to finally be here as a pro is genuinely exciting.”

After two unsuccessful world title challenges and a hard-fought return earlier this year, Conlan knows there’s no margin for error. Bateson, with 20 wins to his name and only one defeat, poses a serious test - and victory is the only path to keep Conlan’s title hopes alive.

Watch it unfold live, September 5th, at The Dead Rabbit NY, The Dead Rabbit TX, and The Irish Exit. Let’s get after it.

Ever had a non-alc cocktail that just tastes like juice? Not on our watch.

Late Bloomer is layered and complex, earthy at its core, lifted with florality from our sunflower honey syrup. Everleaf Forest non-alcoholic aperitif brings bittersweet, honeyed warmth, shaken to a frothy finish that turns heads - yep, she’s a crowd pleaser.

Blueberry & Chamomile Everleaf Forest NA Spirit, Sunflower Honey, Red Grape, Lemon. Only in The Taproom.

When we say we’ve had hundreds of requests for these, we’re being modest…

For the best part of a decade, our pints came in plain, unbranded tulip glasses. Then we brought Hephee into the fold, and our iconic (if we do say so ourselves) Split the G glassware - designed just for us - has been in hot demand ever since.

Finally… they’re available to purchase, exclusively at The Dead Rabbit NY and TX. Pick up a set of two for $25, beautifully packaged and ready for gifting… or for keeping all to yourself. We’re not here to judge.

You’ve seen the drinks - now let’s talk about the menu.

We’re proud to work with brilliant makers all across Ireland. Our playlists are curated in Derry, our Wh***ey education is compiled in Galway, our furniture is made in Cork and Tipperary, the lighting in Monaghan, and our Parlor menus? Designed with care in Belfast.

Presented as a hardback book, it’s foil-blocked, richly illustrated, and built to last. Every detail matters: from the three-rabbit motif symbolising past, present, and future, to the hand-drawn cocktails that bring each drink’s story to life.

Cameron, Aidan, and the entire Parlor team worked closely with Kevin and Emma of Allies Studio to craft something engaging, accessible, and delicious - and if you want to take it with you, you can - speak to a member of our team to take our merch home with you. Preferably, not for free.

Out of office and in the pub. You might think we’re winding down our Paddy’s celebrations by now but truthfully, we’re just getting started. Today marks the pinnacle of a nine-day celebration and the culmination of months of planning - Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Duit.

We’re open from 10am to 2am, with cocktail and food specials all day and two Seisiúns - 1pm to 5pm, and 6pm to 10pm. Each year gets bigger and better, a tribute to the talented brewers, distillers, artists, musicians, and storytellers of the Emerald Isle. So, thank you for celebrating with us - sure, it feels just like home.
