Today, members of the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis Club were honored to be onsite at the City of Denton Police and Fire 9/11 Memorial as our community came together to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless families forever changed by that day.

We are grateful to the City of Denton, Denton Police Department, Denton Fire Department, and all those who continue to ensure that the courage, sacrifice, and unity of September 11 are never forgotten.

As Kiwanians, we believe service begins with remembering those who served and sacrificed before us.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Members of the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis Club were proud to join the Denton High School Key Club as students placed American flags in remembrance of the lives lost and the heroes who responded on September 11, 2001.

This is a tradition the Denton High Key Club has carried on for many years, and their commitment continues to impress us.

Even with the Texas heat and humidity—and on what would normally be a day off from school—these students showed up and went to work, carefully placing the flags so our community can pause, remember, and honor those whose lives were forever changed by 9/11.

Service is not always convenient. Sometimes it means giving up your time, working in the heat, and doing something simply because remembering matters.

We are proud to stand beside these young leaders and grateful to see the spirit of service continuing into the next generation.

Yesterday, members of the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis Club completed our annual Youth Protection Training.

Youth Protection Training helps Kiwanis members understand how to create safe, respectful, and supportive environments for the children and teenagers we serve. The training covers appropriate boundaries, recognizing warning signs of abuse or neglect, reporting concerns, and following established safety procedures during youth programs and service projects.

Protecting young people is not simply a requirement—it is a responsibility we take seriously. Our club is committed to ensuring that every child involved in a Kiwanis-sponsored activity feels safe, respected, and supported.

We are proud of our members for continuing to strengthen the culture of safety and accountability within our club.

Service is at the heart of Kiwanis, but so is fellowship. 💙💛

Members of the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis Club are in Texarkana for our annual Kiwanis convention, and we had the chance to spend a great evening together at Verona’s.

We take our service to our community seriously, but we take our fellowship seriously, too. It was a wonderful night of good food, great conversation, plenty of laughter, and simply enjoying time together.

That’s one of the things that makes Kiwanis special. We come together to serve, but along the way, we build friendships with people who share a desire to make their community a better place.

🇺🇸 Denton Breakfast Kiwanis had a wonderful time at the Yankee Doodle Parade yesterday! 🇺🇸
Our club was proud to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a float featuring a handmade cardboard birthday cake, along with a great cast of historic and patriotic characters, including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, Rosie the Riveter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Florence Nightingale, the Statue of Liberty, an astronaut, a sailor, Albert Einstein and even an actual retired Army Colonel.
We also had our own “guards” walking alongside the float, with members dressed as World War II Army soldiers, handing out American flags, 4th of July tattoos, buttons, ducks, and eagles to the crowd.
Most of all, we enjoyed being out in the community, seeing smiling faces, and celebrating the spirit of service, patriotism, and fun that makes Denton such a special place.
Thank you to everyone who came out, waved, cheered, and celebrated with us. The Denton Breakfast Kiwanis Club loves serving this community! 🇺🇸🎂

As we celebrate the birth of our nation and 250 years of freedom, we are reminded of how grateful we are to serve this wonderful community. We hope you have a fantastic day celebrating with family, friends, and neighbors! 🦅🇺🇸

This morning, members of the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis Club were out serving our community by cleaning our Adopt-A-Spot from MedPark to Loop 288.

We may have been a small group today, but we made a difference. Every bag filled and every piece of litter removed helps keep Denton cleaner and better for everyone.

A special thank-you to a member of the Denton High School Key Club and his family for joining us this morning. We are always proud to see the next generation of servant leaders stepping up and giving back.

Service is what Kiwanis is all about, and we were glad to do our part today.

Today, June 14th, we look up at the Old Glory with a deep sense of pride, history, and hope for the future.

At Denton Breakfast Kiwanis, service is at the heart of what we do — but fellowship is part of who we are.

Each month, we gather for what we call First Thirsty. Sometimes we meet at a local restaurant, sometimes we head out for trivia, and sometimes we gather at a member’s home. This month, we met on the second Thursday, but the purpose was the same: to spend time together, enjoy good conversation, and strengthen the friendships that make our club special.

Kiwanis is about serving children and our community, but it is also about building relationships with people who care. We work hard, we serve together, and yes — we have fun together too.

A special thank-you to Paul Juarez, who will be our new Vice President next year, for providing this picture. We may have added a little magic to it.
