We will stand up! We will call you out! We will make our space as safe as possible because we do have control over that. We won’t shrink and make ourselves fit into their boxes and definitions. “STAND FOR SOMETHING HOE” was a reaction Forbidden Fruit had in our group chat to someone doing whatever they could to make a buck at the expense of others. We love it. We aren’t trying to be disrespectful or talk down with our wording. It takes back a word that was used to shame us as millennials and is a cry for everyone to stand up! Be who you know you are! Our community can’t thrive if people aren’t fighting, protesting, and voting against injustice.

Black Out Poetry Night

What is Black Out Poetry? Using an old, well loved book page you will black out words you don’t want to use until you have only words left behind that create a poem. Something new from something old. We are all about sustainability creating here at Hemlock Fox and this is a fun way to do it with writing!*

If you would like to share your poem with the group, beginning at 8pm, grab the mic and read your work! The Foxtenders would love to hear what you wrote. Then you can either take your poem with you or tape it to the moon wall for everyone to enjoy for the rest of September.

*The book pages being used are from an old copy of The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales by Edgar Allan Poe that has already been used in other art projects.

Yes, there will be actual mimosas! Bottomless mimosas!** Yes, there will be a murder mystery for you to help solve! There will be delicious donuts made by kittysscratchkitchen and other brunch food for you to munch on as you try and figure out whodunit! The Foxtenders will also be behind the bar ready to serve you mocktails or cocktails if you want additional drinks!***
