Built in 1866 and now cared for by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Old St Paul’s is one of New Zealand’s greatest heritage places, exemplifying some of the finest Gothic Revival architecture in the world. Constructed entirely from native wood, featuring spectacular Victorian stained glass windows, Old St Paul’s is a special and welcoming place for the many thousands of people who visit every year. Although services are no longer held in Old St Paul's, it remains a very popular venue for weddings. Live music performances, film screenings, community and corporate events are also held in the building. Through one of the property's helpful volunteers, visitors are invited to learn more about the history of the church, the whenua Old St Paul's is built on and the Wellington region. There is also a beautiful gift store on site stocked with an incredible array of New Zealand-made products.
