Good morning, and what a beautiful September morning it is!
If you are wondering what to do today, how about a walk along some of the wonderful paths we have around the village? Postman's Walk is a favourite, especially with the great view from the top, and it starts just across the road from the pub. Or how about a longer walk down to Bransbury Common?
You could then stop in at The Swan for a refreshment break and a lovely lunch.
Steve is behind the bar at lunchtime today, and he definitely likes to have a chat. Ask him about a recent holiday or where he is off to next and you could get some useful inspiration for your next overseas break.
Lunch is available from 12pm to 2.30pm.

In a 300 year old inn, in a little village just off the A303 and not far out of Wi******er, there lives a landlady called Annie and a Chef called Stephane. Annie likes to chat, and Stephane likes to cook. There is also Hollie, Beth, Annie and Angela who like to serve behind the bar, and also have a friendly chat.
Sadly, sometimes there aren't many people visiting the pub, so very few drinks are poured or food served. Annie has to then talk to Stephane, who like most husbands doesn't relish listening to his wife chattering on all day.
If you could help them out and pop in for a drink or two, a packet of crisps, or even ordering a meal that would be very much appreciated.

Can you sing? Play an instrument? Do both? Or even recite poetry?
Why not join us at our popular Open Mic Night? This is a monthly event, on the second Thursday of the month and the next one is Thursday 10th September.
There is usually a good crowd, and lots of willing performers, so even if you don't feel brave enough to get up in front of the mic, it is a great opportunity to enjoy a night out at the pub and be entertained for free.

Never painted before? Or not sure of your skills? Don't worry, the evening is led by experienced tutors who guide you through each step so that you have a beautiful piece of art to take home with you. All whilst enjoying some lovely music and your favourite drink from the bar (paid separately).

The Bank Holiday didn't quite go to plan!
But today is a new month, and whilst the 'ber' months aren't always welcomed, especially after a glorious summer, we have so much to look forward to in September.
Did you know we have a world-famous rock band in our village? Ok, they may not be at the dizzying heights of superstardom, but there are definitely some.people living as far afield as Australia who know who they are!
If you have never seen Logical Park perform where HAVE you been? Don't worry though, you can rectify that by coming along to their next gig at The Swan on Saturday 19th September. It will be loud, it will be lively, and it will be great!!

Because of on-going issues with our cellar which I should know more about tomorrow or Tuesday there is a possibility that we may not be open until Thursday this week but I will update as soon as I know more

It's a Bank Holiday, which means it is raining!!
Perfect weather to enjoy a Sunday Roast in our lovely, cosy village pub.
As it is a bank holiday our wonderful French Chef, Stephane is cooking one of the most traditional English dishes - roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. Roast pork is also on the menu this week.
Whilst we can often accommodate walk-ins, we can't guarantee availability, so it's always best to book a table in advance. Give us a call on 01962-760470

Just a little reminder that Becky will be with us this afternoon from 2.30pm for all your sharpening needs. It's a wet and miserable day, so why not make the most of it and get your carving knives sharpened, ready for all those autumn roast dinners.
As they say, the garden needs the rain. Are your garden tools as sharp as they can be and ready for any jobs that may need doing soon?
