Evening All, ***Service Update***

Food back on tomorrow from 4pm and then 12pm the rest of the week. We needed some time to prep the reduced menu until the new one comes into play in a couple of weeks. Below is what you'll find at Red House from tomorrow as part of the reduced menu.

The tapas plates will go down well with tomorrow's w**e Wednesday deal!

Starters/small plates all starters are £6.95 but you can get 3 plates for £18 so mix and match for a great deal:

• King prawn pil pil ( 4 king prawns cooked in a garlic and spiced oil served with toasted bread, finished with a lemon slice)
• Chorizo and halloumi tapas bowl (cubed chorizo and halloumi pan fried in a chilli jam sauce)
• ⁠Mac & cheese (mournay mac and cheese finished with lightly toasted breadcrumbs
• ⁠Prawn cocktail
• ⁠Halloumi tapas (3 slices of fried halloumi cooked crisp outside and soft inside, served with a chilli jam or an onion chutney)

Mains:
• B**r battered Cod & chips (served with triple cooked chunky chips, house pink tartare sauce, lemon wedge and mushy/garden peas as an option) £18
• ⁠Homemade ham & leek pie (served with triple cooked chunky chips, a stout gravy, and a mix of seasonal veg) £16
• ⁠Pan fried Cod ( crispy skin cod filet served with fricase sauce, finished with herb oil drizzle, micro herbs, and parmentier potatoes) £18
• ⁠Double smash burger ( served In a brioche bun, tomato, lettuce, emmental cheese and a bacon jam, served with house chunky chips and a pot of slaw) £16
• ⁠penne pasta ( blanched to al dente, served in a Italian Napoli sauce, splash of cream, finished with Parmesan (optional) £14.95

Desserts: All desserts are £6.95.

• New York style cheesecake ( served with a homemade berry compote, finished with lemon balm)
• ⁠homemade white chocolate blondie ( rich blondie portion served with vanillla ice cream and finished with lemon balm)
• ⁠Homemade lemon posset (served with homemade shortbread and finished with lemon balm)

We are really buzzing with this. We couldn't have done it without the team around us thst helped us to develop this amazing venue.

***Service Update Food & Quiz***

Morning All,

Just to update you the the chefs have taken a well earned holiday for a fortnight, so there will be some disruption to food. However, we are working on bringing you a reduced menu over this time, so that we can still offer some food service. When the chefs come back we'll be launching our new menu so stay tuned for updates!

Quiz - it won't be on tonight as we're revamping it, however we're putting some extra money in the prize pot for you to win. Will give updates this week but we think you'll be happy with the potential pot! Quiz to resume from next week with a decent money pot up for grabs.

We're open today from 12pm as usual.

Good morning all.

Just to let you know that our kitchen staff are on a well deserved 2 week break from today.

This gives us time to sort out the new menu which will be launched early October.

A limited menu will be available during these two weeks during set hours throughout the day so you can still enjoy Red House Farm.

Today though, the kitchen will be closed but we are still open for drinks from 1pm today.

We will keep you posted later today regarding the limited menu and hours when this will be available.

Red House was banging today! Pics below are of the afternoon tea that went really well. Marie from The Elks made all the cakes and sweets.

And one more meet the team before we head off to bed for the night.

Marie and Steve have joined us within the last couple of weeks.

Originally from Essex they moved to the north east 2 years ago and have ran a cafe, worked in kitchens in Alston and Marie makes the best cakes and sweets ever!

In fact, she single handedly made all of the cakes for the function today at Red House, where they had afternoon tea. Just look how happy they all are in the pics below.

Steve works in the kitchen with me (Paul), and is doing an amazing job. They are really settling in and enjoy working here at The Elks and love making sure you all get served and eat.

Marie says "I'm a proper people person and love meeting the locals and guests from the hotel. I'm looking forward to seeing how things go and watching this new business grow."

Steve is equally as happy and says "it's fun and enjoyable working at The Elks, and I'm learning new recipes with the traditional homemade food. I'm looking forward to the future and seeing how the business develops."

Me and Richie couldn't be happier with them both, they give the place 100% every time they come in.
