10 years. Today marks 10 years since you left us.

We could see today as a sad day, or a happy one — it all depends on the perspective.

Yes, you left just days before Charlotte’s 23rd birthday and months before Jen’s 21st. We had so many plans, so many things we wanted to do with you.

So, Mum… we did them for you. ❤️

10 years without you, so here are 10 things we’ve achieved because of you, yet without you:

1. 🇺🇸 We went to New York and had breakfast at Tiffany’s… although it was actually just a pastry as we walked past 😂
2. 🍺 We took over the pub, becoming Heineken’s youngest landladies at the time. Now we’re known as the girls who ran with it and never stopped.
3. 💷 We turned the pub you created into a million-pound company, keeping Dad and Mark by our sides, just as we know you would have wanted.
4. 🦠 We survived a pandemic. HARD doesn’t even cover it. But you taught us to be strong — to face the problem, focus and pivot.
5. 🏡 We both bought houses and turned them into family homes. We know you’d be so proud.
6. 👧🏼 Jen now has those Monday morning arguments on the landing before the school run — only this time with your granddaughters. Mum, you’d absolutely adore them.
7. 🐶 We kept the Spotty Doggies tradition alive and strong. They were always your favourite.
8. 🍸 Remember when you said having more than 5 gins on the bar would never sell? Well… we created a gin festival and SOLD OUT. 174 cases of Fever-Tree tonic delivered and sold in 24 hours!
9. 🎶 Pick Fest moved to Culcheth — an idea you created but never got to see happen. We did it! Live music on a flatbed lorry, dancing from midday until late… and not just once, but 3 years running.
10. 💚 We painted the pub green! We know you wouldn’t approve, but we ignored our inner Mum’s voice, took the plunge… and it paid off. It’s now a community space filled with a new group of regulars we call family.

We kept your dream of The Culcheth Arms alive — amazing wines, great home-cooked food and, most importantly, always an ear to listen at the bar.

You raised us to be strong, and that we certainly are.

10 years on, Mum… we hope you’re proud. ✨
