We have seen many other publicans talking about this and it is currently a huge problem within this industry!

Our pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, nightclubs and many more, are at the heart of our communities. They bring people together and bring life to our cities, towns and villages, but they’re under huge pressure from rising costs.

People look at pub owners and think that spending money over the bar is what fills their pockets… quite the opposite! I know many publicans who work day in and day out to be able to pay bills, staff, suppliers and the biggest bill VAT!

In the UK, we pay one of the highest VAT rates in Europe. 20% extra in VAT for your meal out or stay away. In France, Spain and Italy, it’s 10%. In Germany? 7%.

VAT is currently killing this industry and if something doesn’t change and change soon, there will be no industry left! No heart of the community, no place for families and friends to come together and no place for you to let some steam off after a long week at work!

Our message to Government is simple. Let’s stand together to say VAT at 10% is fair for hospitality.

🎨 KIDS ACTIVITY WEEK 🎨

We have decided to lower the age of the kids activity week, we are now accepting children aged 5-10 as I know we have had some people asking about this.

We will however be noting behaviour and if any child is considered to not be participating correctly, we do reserve the right to not accept for the rest of the week.

🎨 KIDS ACTIVITY WEEK 🎨

We are looking to run a Kids Activity week in the Summer Holidays. Week commencing August 3rd. Hosted by a fully qualified assistant head teacher, all staff involved are DBS or Advanced DBS checked.

It would run Monday thru Friday from 10am until 3pm with an hours break in the middle of the day for lunch (a pack lunch to be brought from home)

The themes of the week would be as follows and each day would include activities such as crafts, baking/decorating and entertainment.

Ages 7-10

Monday - International day

Tuesday - Nature day

Wednesday - Disney/marvel day

Thursday - Nature Day

Friday - Foody day including pizza

We can take a maximum of 25 kids per day. Costing £30/day or £25/day if all 5 days are booked.

Medical and consent forms will be sent out to parents to fill in before the child is accepted, this is to include any allergies or intolerances.

☀️☀️SUMMER FAIR ☀️☀️

Hopefully this year we will be blessed with a little more sunshine than last!

📅 Saturday 8th August
🕰️ 12pm - 5pm
📍 The Red Lion TIPIs

We truly have something for everyone this year from stalls and live music to face painting and bouncy castles for the kids!

Live music to be confirmed and more information to follow in the next few weeks. Everyone is welcome especially the four legged furry types! 🐶🐶

We will have both our BBQ and pizza oven running this day 🍗 🍕

🎨 ADULTS ART CLASSES 🖼️

Unfortunately, due to not having the interest in the 6 week art course we are having to postpone this for now and go back to the drawing board (literally!)

We just wanted to gain a little more insight in to why this may not have picked up as we first intended??

Was it the price?? The dates and times?? Any other factors??

Anyone who has booked on already to this course I can arrange for refunds until we know what we are going to do moving forward.

Due to the excessive heat in our kitchen, we’ve decided this evening to make the decision to close the kitchen early with us also not being very busy this evening in our restaurant.

Our bar is still however open and serving drinks this evening so why not join us in our beer garden to soak up the last few rays ☀️

We will be open tomorrow as normal from 12 pm serving both our lunch and al a carte menu so if you would like to book a table with us please do so via our online website or call us on (01925) 74010 one. And one of our team will be more than happy to help.

☀️☀️IMPORTANT INFORMATION ☀️☀️

With the increase in heat on TUESDAY 26th MAY we will be running on a reduced menu and food will only start from 2PM!!

This is so we don’t have to run all of our equipment in the kitchen, with temperatures touching nearly 40+ degrees today we can’t ask the staff to work long hours in these conditions.

We are OPEN today and the sun is shining ☀️☀️

Serving food from 12pm both inside and outside, outside tables are on a first come first serve basis!

There may be times throughout the day in which we have to stop food due to the heat in the kitchen! We need to allow our staff extra breaks and not to be working in excessive heat, so please be patient!

This may also mean that we stop food sooner than anticipated, we will try and keep this as updated as possible. At the moment in time it will be 5pm as we are running off of Sunday hours anyway!
