🔔 KITCHEN CLOSED 🔔

A complete kitchen makeover is on the way!

Our pub kitchen will be closed next week (Monday 2nd November) while we carry out some refurbishments and make the switch over to electrical appliances.

Now that we’re running on our own power from the farm, we’re excited to take another step towards making The Mount Pleasant more sustainable 🌱

The kitchen will be closed but the bar will still be open for drinks each day through the week from 4pm.

We are hoping to be back serving delicious food by the weekend, but we can’t promise this just yet. We will keep you updated as work progresses, so please keep an eye on our social media for updates!

That’s not all… we might just have an exciting announcement to share afterwards, with a new menu and a new chef joining us! 👨‍🍳

We’ll be back before long, ready to serve you again from our refreshed kitchen.

🌟 The farm behind the food! 🌟

All the hard work really pays off when things like this happen!

The food we serve starts its journey just across the road on our very own farm. From the meat on your Sunday roast, to the fresh vegetables on your plate, it’s all produced by us, with sustainability at the forefront of everything we do!

From our fields to your fork, it really doesn’t get much more local than that! 🚜🥕🍽️

A huge thank you to everyone who supports us, enjoying a meal in our pub or simply championing local British farming.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built, and even prouder to share it with you all. 💚

Cole Farming has been awarded Sustainable Farmer of the year 2026!

Mid Devon’s Cole Farming is putting self-sufficiency and circularity at the heart of its rapidly expanding family business.

Across 180 hectares, the third-generation farm produces more than one million broiler chickens annually, alongside 16,000 free-range laying hens, 400 beef cattle, sheep and pigs. At the centre of the system is an on-farm biogas plant, providing heat, power, fuel and digestate fertiliser. Animal waste and poultry litter feed the plant, while waste heat warms poultry sheds and dries woodchip for biomass boilers. The farm has not imported electricity for 10 years and now runs two tractors on biomethane.

Sustainability extends into biodiversity, with more than 5,000 trees planted, three wildlife ponds, herbal lays and 10 beehives. A chemical-free market garden supplies a growing veg-box scheme, while the family’s recently acquired pub provides a direct route to consumers. With a farm shop and café planned, Cole Farming is creating a diverse, resilient and increasingly self-sufficient business for the next generation.

☀️ What a day! ☀️

Thank you so much to everyone who came and spent the afternoon with us yesterday for the bank holiday!

A jam packed bar, rammed b**r garden, buzzing garden room, and some amazingly talented musicians made a wonderful day for all!

140 pizzas, topped with our fresh produce straight from the farm and garden - completely sold out - what more could we ask for?!

Huge thanks to Broadclose Farm Market Garden for providing a huge glut of tomatoes for our delicious tomato base amongst many other toppings.

And to Woodscombe Farm and for the amazing charcuterie selections on various pizzas.

All in all a wonderful day and we hope you all enjoyed it too!

Come and join us for our live music and pizza afternoon. This bank holiday, Monday 31st August.

With sets from both Kris Thompson and Joe Webber. It’s set to be a great afternoon with lovely music, delicious food and good company!

This Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August, we will be holding our first wood fired pizza event!

We will be cooking and serving wood fired pizzas from 1pm until 6pm, with live music throughout the afternoon too!

Come along and join us in the sun (🤞🏼) with some delicious pizza, drinks and music. What more could you want on a bank holiday!?

The pub will be open from 12pm until 9.30pm for drinks, as per usual we do recommend booking to avoid any disappointment.

We proudly rear all of our own meat on our family farm, while fresh vegetables and herbs are grown in the market garden just across the road. Keeping our menu small allows us to celebrate the seasons and serve each ingredient at its very best.
