Classic and Specialist Car and Bike Night

A little journey into the archives to remind us of occasions when Car And Bike Night has ventured beyond the confines of The Red Lion at Shobrooke car park.

Over the years we have provided little displays of vehicles for a number of local happenings such as the Credfest event, the welcoming of Devon's new Air Ambulance into service, a Transport Day at Landscore Primary School and the legendary "Car Show In A Cow Shed" when, in the face of a near-Biblical downpour, we hurriedly rejigged our display to fit into said building at a History Day at Dowrich Farm.

And the reason for all this reminiscing? Well we're at it again. The Crediton branch of The Royal British Legion is celebrating its 100th anniversary on June 20th and we've been asked if we could bring some vehicles along. Further news about Kevin Sargeant. His family have kindly let us have details of his funeral so that we can let you all know. It will take place at Exeter Crematorium on Thursday 18th June at 2.30pm. Those attending are very much encouraged to bring their classic vehicles.

One may or may not expect The Spanish Inquisition, but we certainly weren't expecting a steam traction engine at Car And Bike Night last night. We are delighted to say, however, that we got one anyway! As it says on the pub sign "All Welcome" 😎

Nearly time for another Car And Bike Night - Thursday 28th at The Red Lion at Shobrooke - but sadly we have to inform you that one of the event's most dedicated supporters will be absent. We learned earlier this week that Kevin Sargeant has passed away. A regular attendee in one or other of his immaculate early Lotuses, either the Six or the Seven, Kevin was the very essence of what being an old car enthusiast is all about and will be sorely missed.

April meet at The Red Lion at Shobrooke done and dusted. Perhaps not quite the numbers we had hoped to see given the nice weather, but some interesting machinery nonetheless and things are definitely heading the right way as the season gets going 😎
