Christmas party, sorted! Book now...

The private room seats twenty-six around one long table, with its own door, so you are not sharing your evening with anybody else.

If there are more of you than that, the whole pub takes around seventy.

We agree the menu with you beforehand, so on the night everything simply arrives.

There are three rooms upstairs too, for anyone who would rather not drive home afterwards.

The new menu is on.

A lamb and mint burger with goats’ cheese and red onion chutney. Sirloin with chimichurri or peppercorn, cauliflower and horseradish purée and chunky chips. Pan roasted chicken supreme with pommes Anna and a wild mushroom sauce. B**r battered fish with our own tartare and mushy peas. A roasted cauliflower wedge with hummus and dukkah.

Snacks are eight each or any three for twenty-one, and there are some good new ones. Puddings include crème brûlée with apple compote and a vanilla rice pudding with poached pear.

Kitchen from 12 today, through to Saturday dinner. Book on 01398 694 695.

We’ve pulled the first name out of the hat and it’s Graham. Congratulations!

Graham, Sunday lunch for four is on us this weekend. That’s four mains and a drink each, so bring whoever you like and we’ll have the table ready from 12.

Thanks to everyone who came in on Monday and Tuesday and put their name in.

The draw runs again next week, so a pint and a quick hello at the bar Monday and Tuesda gets you in for next Sunday!

New menu tomorrow.

Ryan has been working on this one for a few weeks. There is an ‘nduja Scotch egg with homemade chilli jam on the snacks, a lamb and mint burger with goats’ cheese and red onion chutney, and a sirloin with chimichurri or peppercorn sauce. Puddings have changed too.

Bar only tonight from 5. Kitchen back tomorrow from 12, and the new menu runs through to Saturday dinner.

Ryan has changed it over for the season. A lamb and mint burger with goats’ cheese and red onion chutney. Sirloin with chimichurri or peppercorn. Pan roasted chicken supreme with pommes Anna and a wild mushroom sauce. A roasted cauliflower wedge with hummus and dukkah. B**r battered fish with mushy peas and our own tartare.

New snacks too, including an ‘nduja Scotch egg with homemade chilli jam, and sticky sweet chilli chicken. Still eight each, or any three for twenty-one.

Puddings have changed as well. Crème brûlée with apple compote, a double chocolate cheesecake, vanilla rice pudding with poached pear.

Our Christmas menu is ready and the book is open.

Chicken livers on brioche with bacon jam and a poached egg. Roast turkey or roast beef with all the trimmings, a celeriac and mushroom Wellington, or pan-fried salmon or sea bass. Christmas pudding with brandy custard and clotted cream.
