Minchinhampton Folk Club meets every Thursday night at Minchinhampton Cotswold Club, 11 High Street, Minchinhampton, GL6 9BN. We welcome all kinds of folk and roots-related music from the UK, North America and around the world. At MFC we believe in encouraging new performers and fostering fresh talent, so we do our best to help everyone feel at ease. We have welcomed singers and musicians from everywhere from Denmark to the Ivory Coast, as well as the USA, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and the four corners of the British Isles. There'll be an equally warm welcome whether you're a terrified beginner (we were all there once) or a fully-fledged pro. We believe folk music should be fun and should be shared, so we particularly welcome musicians who set out to entertain and involve the audience. We encourage people to do chorus songs and tunes and familiar material which gives others the chance to join in and help us to have a lively evening. We encourage playing and singing along where appropriate - some wonderful musical partnerships have developed through acquaintances made at the club. From time to time we book paid performers in the club, or hold concerts featuring professional artists. These are well advertised (please check the news column right) - otherwise every night is a floor spot night. There is a short break at about 9.00 and then we aim to finish at 10-30. A donation of £2 is requested on the door (audience and performers alike) to cover the cost of club expenses - we think that's pretty good value. It can get quite crowded, so please be here early if you plan to play or sing and don’t be disappointed if you only get the chance to do one song or tune (it's usually one in each half per performer). If we don't already know you, please introduce yourself to the MC on arrival so you are not overlooked. We like to hear constructive comments and suggestions, so if you have something to say please let us know on the email or phone number below. We email regulars with news about club events, the professional musicians we book occasionally, the festivals and gigs we put on or take part in and what our regular performers are up to. Tomorrow is a big day for the Minchinhampton Cotswold Club. It’s their 80th anniversary and we will be there to help them celebrate. Last night Craig and Richard aka 'Mistaken Identity' sang their own tribute to the Cotswold Club. They will be playing on Saturday afternoon, and at the MFC Festival on Sat 26th so come along and hear it again! It's a cracker and a brilliant tribute to a wonderful club. Come and join the celebrations! All welcome.

Another fantastic club night last week. Big thanks to all who played and came to listen. We’re back again this Thursday (Sep 10th) so get here early, grab a seat, a drink and settle in for a great night of music from 7.45 at the Minchinhampton Cotswold Club !

Last night was an absolute stonker and a brilliant end to club nights in August. Mansfield-Smith gave us a fantastic guest spot and we had a host of new performers as well as our staunch regulars. The room was full, the music was fab. Thanks Guy and Cathy and our other performers for a great night!

As you can see from the pics August has been busy and there’s lots to look forward to in Sep. We hope to see you sometime soon.

This coming Thursday (27th Aug) is guest night featuring the wonderful Mansfield-Smith. Guy and Cathy are regular visitors to MFC and always delight us with their own songs and a few covers thrown in for good measure. Lots of floorspots too so do come and be part of it. Meanwhile we’re thinking ahead to the first event of our Festival in September - annA rydeR in concert. annA is a class act who charmed us last year and thrilled our audience, but we want to encourage you to come along and enjoy what will be a great evening, so we’re keeping the ticket price as low as we can. Last year's concert really was a great night, so do come along and support Live Music and the Cotswold Club!

annA rydeR is a musical dynamo; an original and inventive singer-songwriter whose exuberant humour and joyful presentation is matched only by her outstanding musicianship. Her songs are simultaneously thought-provoking, poignant and humorous.

Her stage is adorned with a spectrum of instruments from piano to trumpet, guitar to accordion and she sometimes plays them more than one at a time.

An evening with annA is always rich and uplifting.

Here's a roundup of July which was hot but also very cool!

Big thanks to everyone who came, particularly our special guest James Slater who gave us a memorable evening.

There’s lots to look forward to in August including a guest spot from the fab-u-lous Mansfield-Smith later in the month but meantime we hope to see you at the Minchinhampton Cotswold Club sometime soon. We're back on Thursday with music starting at 7.45. Members, guests, performers and audience always welcome!
