Dear All,

As of yesterday The Charles Darwin is now closed ready for me to hand over to Admiral Taverns. The reason for not running till the end of the month is the list of jobs they have instructed me to complete before handover.

Any private bookings / teams I can still open for if required. I have not decided if I will have a leaving drinks or not yet.

Admiral Tavern’s have now confirmed that they will complete a full refurbishment on the property starting from 1st Oct. This will include returning the building to a shell and making it fully open plan with the bar at the back where the Glasswash area is. All new toilets including a disabled toilet. A full children’s play area and full outside seating area to include TV’s. They are planning a full wet lead operation with no food. The closest business model to this is Claremont Tap in Sutton Farm. One of the senior managers from The Proper Pub Company has advised their average price of a Carling over the Midlands is £2.50. I am very happy they are investing £1m+ into the pub to keep it running for the future. I am unsure how long the refit will take but from the 30+ contractors that visited I’m guessing no longer than a few months. They have not yet started the process of recruiting a manager however will be in contact with teams over the coming weeks to see if you wish me to introduce you to the area manager / GM once recruited.

I would like to thank all my staff, regulars and teams for the past 2.5 years as the leaseholder of The Charles Darwin. I am over the moon that they are investing big money into the venue and will continue on for years to come. I have made some great friends over the years and that is priceless to me.

Last Saturday I agreed to host the after march gathering. Since then I have been called a N**i, Raciest, Woman Be**er and Hooligan. It’s a good job I’m think skinned and get called these names and more in my real job so just don’t care.

The reason I’m saying this is cause anyone attending the march or gathering at The Charles Darwin tomorrow gets labelled the same as I have been what is completely untrue and is spreading Hate Not Love…. Tomorrow please respect the police they are doing their jobs and will be on the march and on the pub all night.

Zero Arrests Last March, Let’s Do The Same Tomorrow & Prove Them Wrong.

⚽️ ⚽️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 PLEASE BE AWARE!!!! Due to the amount of bookings already taken in our outside & lounge area we are no longer taking bookings. Some tables with table service are available still but please arrive early to guarantee. Our outside standing area is available however again we are limited on capacity.

The staff are saying the reason so many have booked is cause I’m coming out of retirement and DJ’ing tomorrow. Several London nightclubs include Ministry of Sound have heard and requested I play there tomorrow but I said, I’m at The Charles Darwin tomorrow sorry.

Our completion to win a table of 10 with free booze is still running and will be drawn tomorrow.
