We’ve been SO busy shouting about all the events, live music and everything else going on lately that we’ve realised we’ve been seriously neglecting one very important thing on our socials… THE FOOD. 🤦‍♂️🍴

So this week, while we’ve been making noise out front, the chefs have been busy in the kitchen putting together some seriously tasty new specials… and we thought it was about time they got a bit of the spotlight too. 👨‍🍳🔥

On the specials menu this week:

• Lincolnshire Sausages with creamy mash, peas & our homemade gravy
• Sweet Chilli Linguine with King Prawns served with garlic ciabatta
• Sweet Chilli Linguine with Chicken Breast served with garlic ciabatta
• Deep Fried Halloumi Sticks with your choice of sweet chilli sauce or hot honey 🤤

Proper pub food, big flavours and absolutely no tiny portions pretending to be dinner. 😂

This Halloween, country is taking a very dark turn at The Crown, Selsey…

If you’ve been to one of our country events before, you already know the standard we aim for — brilliant live acts, proper atmosphere and a huge day of entertainment.

As some of you will be aware our Helen, our member of staff had a life changing accident last week and has lost her leg as a result. Her family have set up a gofundme page to fundraise for her recovery. Lots of you got to know her over the summer and she became a vital member of the team really quickly and as you can imagine we’re all devastated by the news. If you can help to support her we’d really appreciate it ❤️

The sister of a Chichester woman who lost a leg following a motorbike crash near Sidlesham has launched a fundraising appeal to help support her recovery.

💛 A little thank you to the people who make The Crown what it is… 💛

Tomorrow, Tuesday 1st September, The Crown will be closed for the day — but for a very good reason.

We’re taking our incredible team out and giving them a day that’s completely about them. 🥂

The last few months have been absolutely relentless at times. Huge events, packed weekends, busy kitchens, hundreds of meals, thousands of drinks, late finishes, early starts, setting up, clearing down and then somehow getting up and doing it all again the next day.

And through all of it, this team has been phenomenal.

The Crown simply wouldn’t be what it is without the people behind the bar, in the kitchen, on the floor and behind the scenes. They work incredibly hard, they look after our customers, they support each other and they allow us to keep putting on the events and experiences that we’re so proud to bring to Selsey.

So tomorrow, we’re shutting the doors and treating them. ❤️

To every single member of our team: thank you. We genuinely appreciate everything you put into this place and we hope you have an absolutely brilliant day — you’ve earned it.

And to all of our customers, thank you for understanding and, more importantly, for continuing to support us and our team.

Ten Years

We’ve been sitting with that number all morning, and we still don’t think it’s landed properly.

Last night was our last garden event of the summer. When it was over and the garden slowly emptied out, we found ourselves standing there in a space that had been full of noise and people about twenty minutes earlier, just thinking — how on earth did we get here?

There’s a moment during Smithfield’s set last night that we’ll be holding onto for a long while. We weren’t working. Not checking anything or fixing anything or counting anything, which if you know us is rare. We just stopped. And we looked out at a garden absolutely full of people — some who’ve been coming since the very beginning, some who found us this summer, kids on shoulders, mates in circles, people singing words back — and ten years of this place came flooding at us all at once. Every quiet night we wondered if it would work. Every early start. Every time we bet on something bigger than we probably should have. All of it leading to that exact moment, in that garden, with that noise.

We’re not embarrassed to say it got us.

So this is a thank you, and we want to do it properly.

To our community — you are the reason any of this exists. You came out, again and again, in the rain and in the heat, and you brought your families and your friends and your energy. A venue is just a building. You’re what makes it a place. Thank you for choosing to spend your summer with us.

To our staff — we don’t have the words, honestly. You have worked relentlessly. Every single week, through the heat, through the long shifts, through the days when everything that could go wrong did. You never dropped the standard and you never lost the smile, and half the compliments we get about this place are actually about you. We are so proud of every one of you. Thank you for carrying this.

To every performer who stood on our stage this summer — and there were so many of you — thank you for giving us everything you had. You brought the atmosphere that people will be talking about all winter. This summer belongs to you as much as anyone.

And to our neighbours — the biggest thank you of all.

We make some noise each summer. We know it. And you have shown us patience, grace and genuine support while we do it. Not many places get that. We’ve never taken it for granted, not for a single event, and we want you to know that every time this garden fills up, we’re aware it only happens because you let it. Thank you. Truly.

Ten years in Selsey. Ten years of building something here. We don’t think we ever imagined it looking like this.

We’ve got winter plans, and they’ll be revealed in the next couple of weeks. But that can wait. Today isn’t about what’s next.

Today is just this:

Thank you. All of you. From the bottom of our hearts.
