This is the hardest post I’ve ever had to write.
Our beloved Pops passed away peacefully on Monday evening, & I honestly don’t think life in The Neptune will ever be the same again.
Pauline would like to thank you all for your support & kindness over the last few days. So many heartfelt words have been shared & beautiful bouquets have arrived. A lot of respect & love has been shown during this incredibly difficult time. We are all sending our love to the boys, the grandchildren, & the rest of the family.
Pops & Pauline have had the Neptune for the last 20 years, & anyone that’s visited in that time will know that he was the true heart & soul of the bar. Whether he was sat in his chair with a G&T, or relaxing in the garden to soak up as much sun as he could, Pops had a truly respected presence from all those who came through the doors.
The loyal customers & staff have stayed for so many years for a lot of reasons, but I know that the main reason was because of you, Pops.
You & Pauline built more than a pub here — you built a community. A place where friendships were made, & memories were shared over many, many pints. So many stories will be & have been told about nights spent in your pub.
We will raise a glass to a man who made this pub more than just a place to drink… he made it a home.
You will forever & always be in our hearts.
Love from all at The Neptune. 🔱
