Unapologetically, hyper-seasonal 🧡

It’s almost the end of tomato season and we have a bumper crop of them still bursting with colour and flavour, along with plenty of earthy beets, unusual varieties of winter squash and fennel.
Beth, head grower has been busy harvesting at Denton Reserve so Tim & his kitchen team can create dishes that showcase the menu, the seasons creating dishes that taste unmistakably ‘right now’ - the last of the summer crop meeting the comfort of autumn.

Who doesn’t love a dirty carrot?! 🥕

Fresh from our walled garden and straight to the plate — seasonal, local and grown just a few steps from the kitchen.

Beth, our Head Grower, is particularly excited about the baby fennel this week. You’ll find it alongside herb-baked wild Shetland plaice on our à la carte menu.

From soil to plate, it doesn’t get much closer than this.

Meet Ben, Denton Reserve’s Sous Chef, talking all things Sunday Roast — something we’re very proud of here at The Penny Bun.

There’s a lot that goes into what lands on your plate. Growing, sourcing, harvesting, recipe testing, prep, discussion, refinement and, of course, plenty of tasting.

It’s a process that starts long before Sunday lunchtime, bringing together the best of what’s grown and produced around Denton Reserve with the skill and care of our kitchen team.

Because a great Sunday Roast is about more than what’s on the plate. It’s about knowing where the ingredients come from, making the most of what’s around us and taking the time to get every element just right.

And, importantly… unlimited gravy. 🤎

We’re all very proud of this one — almost full marks from Amanda Wragg in today’s The Yorkshire Post following her recent visit to The Penny Bun.

Amanda praised the food, ambience, price and service, and said the future of pubs is in safe hands if they’re anything like TPB. 🤎

Just the spot to base yourselves for a last-minute weekend away. Walk the Wharfe, potter around the Ilkley shops, stomp across the moors, then make your way back to the bar for afternoon drinks and board games.

Afterwards, refresh in your room before settling in for dinner in our restaurant.

At The Penny Bun, our Field to Fork menu celebrates produce grown, foraged and reared right here at Denton Reserve. It’s a menu shaped by Yorkshire, inspired by the seasons and freshly cooked daily in the Penny Bun kitchen

This summer’s menu brings together Yorkshire’s finest produce with simple, thoughtful cooking. Fresh tagliolini with summer vegetables and Otley ricotta, our White Park cheeseburger, braised estate lamb belly, vibrant gazpacho and house-made desserts that make the most of the season’s fruit.

Every dish is created with sustainability in mind too, making the most of what our land provides while reducing food waste wherever we can.

Join us for two courses for £25 or three courses for £30 and discover what Field to Fork really tastes like.
