This WILL be the last time I shall post under the heading of The Askwith Arms! For those who didn't know - the freehold of the Askwith Arms was sold by Stonegate Pub Partnership in July of 2022 to Denton Hall Estates. We were promised compensation by Stonegate for the remainder of our 5 year lease although that compensation never materialised (go ahead and sue me Stonegate if that is not true!) and Denton Hall undertook a major refurbishment of the property which had been allowed to deteriorate massively under the ownership of Stonegate.
Almost 2 years later the pub has now re-opened and has been renamed "The Penny Bun" (that will bu**er up the locals - they've only just stopped calling it the Black Horse!) and the property has been skillfully and sympathetically restored to it's former glory. We did not know until quite recently that they would not be retaining the name of The Askwith Arms, and so we had offered to keep the Facebook title and a web page domain for them in case they needed it, but clearly they do not, and so we will be deleting those pages, although keeping the pictures and many memories as useful ammunition to blackmail some of our more lively customers in varying degrees of drunkeness and undress when they become wealthy entrepreneurs, (Reg, Roofing Ben, Sean, Jamie, Danny, Pelly, Plastering Ben, Big Ben, Kieran, Pinhead, Village (we only called him by his first name) etc etc) and don't even get me started on the Staff (Tony, Sparky, Tom, Richard, Gavin, Thomas, Aaron, Josh, Connor,Tom, Sam, Hazel, Briony, Libby, Lily-Mae, Steff, Sophie, Stacey, Frankie, Emma Gemma, Tracie, Mae, Tina, Anya, Lucy, Sally, Toni, Enola, Chris, Elvis, Vikki, Richard etc etc
