Sorry we’ve been a bit quiet…

We whipped the mini landlords away on a proper seaside break before the World Cup and had the very best time. 🍦🪣🪏

Now we’re back with a bang and ready for action 😘.

Tonight is still our usual open mic night 🎤 so come and get ya sing on and we will be playing the VERY FIRST game for the summer of football in our gorgeous sports room and lounge. 🏟️

I’ve been told a few times today that our business is closing…

Got to say this is news to us 😂.

Just to clarify The Coach and Horses IS NOT closing.

I’m assuming this came from the post about VAT the other day where I rightfully said that great pubs (like ourselves) are having to close their doors everyday because of the rising cost of everything making some businesses unsustainable. This is 100% true.

However we aren’t closing here! I was trying to impart the seriousness of the difficulties our industry is facing and clearly didn’t do it very well 🤦🏻‍♀️.

We’re so well supported by our Coach family and luckily me and Joel aren’t bothered about taking wages ourselves 😜😂 so to clarify we’re all good and the Coach is all good.

Be bad timing to have a brand new games room installed if we were closing 😅.

We were blessed with some phenomenal contractors on this project and the speed in which Everards sorted the works was amazing.

It’s not often you’ll hear either of us get political in public but…

This change to VAT is no longer a want... It’s a need. 😅 Pubs don’t charge what they charge for any other reason than they physically have too.

We love pubs, you love pubs but every single day pubs are closing because people like us can’t afford to stay afloat.

It’s not quiet, rubbish pubs that are closing. It’s great, thriving businesses like us because the bills are sometimes physically more than we take. 🤷🏼‍♀️

In the UK, you pay one of the highest VAT rates in Europe. 20% extra in VAT for your meal out or stay away. In France, Spain and Italy, it's 10%. In Germany? 7%.

Everything’s gone up for everyone of course, pub owners aren’t asking for a VAT reduction to afford a nice holiday. There asking for it to avoid going bankrupt.

❌❌ For every single thing you buy in our business we have to pay 20% of it straight to the government just on VAT (this is on top of the duty they get, the employee taxes they get and the business rates they get).
