🏆❤️ WELL… WE DID A THING, WE WON!! ❤️🏆

As Jeremy Clarkson would say… “We did a thing!”

We are absolutely over the moon to announce that Tafarn Cefn Hafod has been crowned BEST GASTRO PUB OF THE YEAR at the Wales Prestige Awards 2027/28! 🏆

Honestly, we’re still trying to take it all in!

What makes this award so special is that it isn’t decided by a public vote. The Prestige Awards recognise businesses for their quality, customer service, innovation, consistency and overall excellence. An independent judging panel researches the businesses, considers customer reviews and feedback, and assesses their achievements before selecting a winner.

To know that our little country pub in Gorsgoch has been recognised in this way is something we could only have dreamed of.

When we started this journey three years ago, neither of us had any experience running a pub or restaurant. We took on a pub that had been closed for around 18 months, with a determination to bring it back to life and make it somewhere our community could be proud of again.

It’s been an incredible journey, with plenty of challenges, long hours, hard work and more than a few sleepless nights along the way!

But we’ve always believed in what we’re trying to achieve here. Good food, a warm welcome and, above all, a proper village pub at the heart of its community.

And now, here we are… award winners! 🥹🏆

We want to say a massive, heartfelt THANK YOU to every single person who has supported us along the way.

Whether you’ve joined us for a meal, popped in for a pint, attended one of our events, left us a lovely review, recommended us to friends or simply offered a few words of encouragement, you’ve all played a part in getting us here.

Your continued support means absolutely everything to us, and we genuinely couldn’t have done this without you.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved, but even prouder of the wonderful community that surrounds us.

We’re completely fully booked, and your continued support really does mean the world to us! ❤️

We’d also like to sincerely apologise to everyone who has tried to get a table today but we’ve unfortunately had to turn away.

It’s for this very reason that we highly recommend booking in advance for our monthly carvery. We’d hate for anyone to make the journey only to be disappointed!

Thank you all once again for keeping our little village pub so busy. We really couldn’t do it without you! 🥰

We are without power unfortunately this evening up until about 8:30pm. This therefore means we can’t cook so there will be no food service tonight. The bar is still open by candle light!

There’s nothing quite like a proper Sunday roast, and this Sunday, 25th October, we’re bringing you another delicious carvery here at Tafarn Cefn Hafod! 😍

It’s taken a while to get here, but Hawkstone Wildthing has finally arrived at Tafarn Cefn Hafod! 🙌

This limited-edition 4.6% l***r brings together Hawkstone and Wildfarmed, using regeneratively grown barley to put British farming at the heart of your pint.

Crisp, full of character and now pouring here at the Hafod. With farming such a big part of our community, we’re pleased to have this one on the bar!

🏆 ANOTHER BIT OF AMAZING NEWS FOR TAFARN CEFN HAFOD! 🏆

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that we’ve also been approached by the Prestige Awards and invited to take part in their awards for next year! ❤️

Of course, we said YES! 🙌

So that now means Tafarn Cefn Hafod is involved in TWO separate awards — alongside being a finalist for Gastro Pub of the Year at the Food Awards Wales 2026. 🥹

For a little pub in Gorsgoch, run by just the two of us, this really does mean a huge amount.

We started out with no background in running a pub or restaurant, taking on a place that had been closed for around 18 months and building it back up from scratch. Three years later, to be getting recognition like this is something we’re incredibly proud of.

But none of it happens without the people who walk through our doors week after week. ❤️

To every single person who has eaten with us, had a pint at the bar, left us a review, recommended us, supported our events or simply told somebody else about Tafarn Cefn Hafod — thank you.

We’ll keep doing what we’ve always done… working hard, serving good food and trying to make our little pub truly live up to Calon Cymuned — Heart of the Community. ❤️
