✨ Station Spotlight ✨

Llanbedr railway station opened in 1923 by the Great Western Railway.

The single platform, unstaffed request stop lies close to Shell Island which has recently been named Wales's beach of the year, according to the annual Times and Sunday Times Best UK Beaches Guide.

In June 2020, the station faced a temporary halt in services due to platform lengths constraints and COVID-19 safety concerns, specifically difficulty in maintaining social distancing between passenger and guards during boarding. As a result it became one of Britain's least used stations in the Office of Rail and Road Statistics 2020-21.

Did you know ⁉️ Llanbedr railway station originally opened as Talwrn Bach but was renamed Llanbedr in 1978. We recently met with local Community Councillors to discuss plans to recognise its historical name. Transport for Wales has since agreed to include a reference to the old name in smaller letters on a new sign.

This year Llanbedr will be celebrating its 20th anniversary of the Gŵyl Gwrw Llanbedr Beer Festival taking place on 12th and 13th September.
