⛳ A LITTLE VET SOC GOLF, A LITTLE TIME AT THE RED…

It’s always lovely to see the different ways people make use of The Red, and this weekend it was the turn of the University of Nottingham ’s Vet Soc!

The day started with 42 golfers heading out for their charity golf tournament, raising just under £300 for the PDSA — a brilliant cause supporting the welfare of animals.

"Congratulations to Team 7, who took the win at 1 over par, with Team 4 hot on their heels in second place at 2 over par. And well done to Sophie, who claimed the nearest-the-pin prize!

A special mention, of course, to Team Left-Handed, who brought up the rear. Perhaps it’s time to try the other way round next time? 😂"

After the golf, the group headed back to The Red for their awards, a catch-up and a few drinks in The Lodge.

A big well done to everyone who took part, and a huge shout-out to Charlie, Vet Soc’s Charity Officer, for organising the day and helping raise money for such a worthwhile cause. ❤️

From student society get-togethers to live music, pétanque and everything in between, it’s great seeing The Red being part of so many different local activities.

Good people, good causes and a good reason to get together.

🧙‍♀️✨ THE WIZARDS’ REST AT THE RED! ✨🧙‍♂️

Today, The Red Lion is getting a little bit magical…

We’re absolutely delighted to be one of the stops on ONE Kegworth ’s "Kegworth Spellbound Trail" — a little journey of magic, mystery and imagination around our village.

And here at The Red, we’ve been given a very important job…

🪄 The Wizards’ Rest! 🪄

As witches and wizards make their way around the trail today, Saturday 3rd October, they’ve been invited to stop off at The Lodge to rest, recharge and refuel before continuing their magical adventures.

We’ll have FREE hot and cold drinks and magical treats for the kids, because even the most powerful young wizard needs a little refreshment after all that spell-casting.

And there’s more…

🎯 The Red is also hosting the Wizarding Hoop Game, so expect a magical challenge along the way!

The Kegworth Spellbound adventure starts at the local High School, where maps — and potion bottles! — can be collected before families head off to explore the High Street at their own pace.

And yes, we’re expecting witches and wizards of "all ages". 🧙‍♀️🧙‍♂️😉

Fancy dress is very much encouraged, so don't be surprised if Kegworth looks a little more magical than usual today.

Our friends at IGEM next door are also providing car parking for visitors arriving by car — because sadly, not everyone has a broomstick.
